Donnie Darko: The Director’s Cut.
I wasn't even aware there was a Director's cut. Thanks

It gives you an easier understanding of the story, specifically what Frank's backstory is.

the Snyder cut of Rebel Moon took a 2 to maybe a 5 at best and added boobs and more violence.

Didn’t love it but it was better and more fleshed out.

I see what you did there.

The slo-mo harvesting scenes were gratuitous but I don’t know if that was in the original version of the second one because I skipped it.

I was there. I didn't hate it as much as some and one day I'll probably give the Directorrs cut a try.

The Donner cut of Superman 2 is worth a watch

Another old one I'll have to check out. I still love the old Superman movies even though some see them as too campy with the modern superhero take.

Blade Runner - The Final Cut is really the definitive version now, over the theatrical, "Director's" and Road Show versions.

I really hate when they keep making different cuts, you really have to like a movie to watch 3-4 different versions and if you have never seen it, you always wonder what you are missing.

I've seen the cuts of Alien and Aliens, and liked them, which makes it strange I never seen Aliens 3 Assembly Cut.

Yeah the DD Director's cut explains a lot about the space travel going on. Almost makes it an entirely different movie.

i can't speak to the delta between the original and directors cut on the second because i skipped the original back in June but you do get to see more violence and sofia boutella's boobs again albeit with a lesbian haircut.

One of my favorite movies of all time, I watch it every year. If I remember right, Troy bombed at the box office and the studio forced Cameron to cut the length of KOH by almost 40% thinking people wouldn’t sit in a theater for 4+ hours

I can overlook a bad haircut.

I was doing some research since it seems to be a favorite here and ran across this. Definitely going to check it out. I'm excited to see it.

Unhappy with the theatrical version of Kingdom of Heaven (which he blamed on paying too much attention to the opinions of preview audiences, and acceding to Fox's request to shorten the film by 45 minutes), Ridley Scott supervised a director's cut of the film, which was released on 23 December 2005 at the Laemmle Fairfax Theatre in Los Angeles, California.[39] Unlike the mixed critical reception of the film's theatrical version, the Director's Cut received overwhelmingly positive reviews from film critics, including a four-star review in the British magazine Total Film and a ten out of ten from IGN DVD.[40][41][42] Empire magazine called the reedited film an "epic", adding, "The added 45 minutes in the director's cut are like pieces missing from a beautiful but incomplete puzzle."[5] One reviewer suggested it is the most substantial director's cut of all time[6] and James Berardinelli wrote that it offers a much greater insight into the story and the motivations of individual characters.[43] "This is the one that should have gone out" reflected Scott.[5]

Absolutely is. Really fleshes the characters out in a way that doesn’t feel rushed within time constraints. Maybe my favorite Director’s Cut ever.

There’s an alternate cut of Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows that makes it a pretty good film. I like the Tarantino edit of True Romance that cuts the film similar to Pulp Fiction with its non-linear storytelling. The directors cut of Alien: Requiem is also very good.

But the very best is Kingdom of Heaven.

Fantastic epic movie.

The added length was worth it.

Blade Runner (Final Cut) - I know I'm in the minority here but I prefer the theatrical release. In the summer of 1982 my friend Jim and I went to see Blade Runner at Cinema 8 in Cortana Mall. When it ended we snuck in to The Thing and watched it. It was one of the best days of movie going I've ever had. I love the bored drawling voice over. I love that there's no suggestion of Deckard being a replicant. Give me the original.

Lord of the Rings (Extended Editions) - agreed. Although like above, I saw Fellowship in a theater opening day. I have been a Tolkien fan since middle school. I never dreamed anyone could make a movie that captured the books so well. My wife had no idea what the story was about but knew how excited I was so came with me. When it ended we walked out still buzzing from the magic. We looked at each other and I said "wanna go see it again?" She said 'yes!" so we did.

Aliens - the added scenes with the sentry guns was better.

Saving Silverman unrated version. Not even joking. It's SO much better.
