who was the black guy they left in the train?
Also, are we to believe they all died in the explosion?

The tech guy. It's the other way around, the train with the tech guy on board kept running towards the mountain while the group decoupled and stayed behind. That's why Teddy gave him the bullet in case he wants to end it before the crash

Tech worker who’ve they’ve been using to hack the other hosts. He’s the one who changed the settings on Teddy

No

Come on. Just think about what you're asking.
Apparently the fidelity test scene with Bernard and Dolores is shot in the same aspect ratio as when Bernard encounters Robert. Suggestion being that both scenes are in the cradle/AI.

Can't belive this thread is only 2 pages.
It's not as captivating as the first season, but the acting, production quality and score are still way above most things on television.
I agree, though...the entire Maeve storyline is (especially in regards to Shogun World) is pointless and I could care less about the outcome of any of them.

Her becoming Neo in the Matrix is completely uninteresting to me, and is, if anything, a regression of her character. The only thing that made her even remotely compelling was that she was smart. It was of occasionally fun to watch her scheme her way out of a tight spot. Now, she doesn’t even have to do that. She’s just a walking deus ex machina which makes her boring, predictable, and impossible to connect with.

That’s an apt comparison.
And agreed.

I completely agree. But as brilliant as the first season was at directing purpose, I have a hard time believing that all of this happening in season 2 is it, and that these things that are annoying right now don't end up serving some higher purpose by the end of the season.
For one, if Ford is still pulling strings, his character would not have Dolores running through the motions of some shitty one dimensional character/story.
Two, I have a hard time believing that Jonah Nolan would fold for the season by introducing a caricature of the main character for season 2.
But I've been surprised before haha

Feels like they wrote the first season to be almost a standalone mini series and just have way too much filler in season 2. The compelling storylines are still great but I agree an entire episode devoted to a meaningless plot of shogun world really slows down the show. I guess after the first season I got spoiled and expect every episode to be great. I’m hoping to be pleasantly surprised where they are going with Delores and mauve

This week’s episode was meh. The Maeve storyline is boring, as is Dolores’. Too much time was spent on Maeve going to ShogunWorld and the “daughter” storylines with her. Curious to know how the last 4 episodes will pan out.

I'm calling it now: MiB's wife killed herself because she did not want to live forever.

Didn't expect all the negativity in this thread. I'm digging this season just as much as the first.

Seems like a bit of a redundant sentence

I’ve been wondering if Williams wife was secretly doing her own “what do you do all the time at Westworld” investigating thinking he was cheating and then found out her husband has had her dads mind on ice for years and is experimenting on him and that’s what precipitated her suicide. And the notebook that the daughter has is her moms and she’s following her footsteps

Pretty sure you're the only person on this board that has any clue what's going on.

Shows are a lot more fun when you don’t know fully what’s going on. I try not to wrap myself in the theories too much

What's bad and that which has become apparent as S02 rolls on, is that WW is starting to divide the original fanbase by how and what it chooses to present. I've heard so many complaints from one side, that they are losing interest because it has become too deep for them to follow, while hearing just as many complaints from others who are losing interest because of the Maeve/Dolores storylines. It's not clear-cut like GoT where everyone can follow, and generally enjoy, as long as they present only the most crucial and important scenes.
So the division is that WW needs viewership(even though I'm pretty confident that HBO would keep it going just from the level of production/scale alone), but it can't go Inception-level deep or deeper without alienating the average viewer. All people love shows that have a level of depth, which makes them feel smarter by having watched, but people don't like shows if it becomes a hassle to follow from said depth and there isn't some kind of payoff quick enough.
I personally love the intellectual/moral/ethical level of things, and it is one of the few shows that has exercised my brain. I would be happy if it continued to be extremely deep and technical. Regardless, I think of Jonah and his wife as very smart and reasonable people, so I like to think that they will figure it all out.

The first half of last season moved slowly, we were griping a little, and then the last four episodes picked up steam and finished rather nicely.
Hopefully that is what we are seeing right now. However, I shouldn't have to go watch several youtube videos or listen to podcasts every week to figure out what is going on. I like my brain being worked but some of this is ridiculous. Shogun World had everyone fired up but then it turned out to be a waste of everyone's time.
I'm sick of having to watch Bernard's collar and where the scar should be to figure out which time period I am watching. It's gotten really old and serves no real purpose.
