Be that as it may,
Seasons 1-4 are some of the best television ever made!
I actually thought 6 and 7 were good too.

Yeah, that was a stupid arse way to lose a dragon

They were rushed. Needed at least a Full Season 8 plus another full season, at least, to wrap that story up properly

No it wasn’t bad tv. It was rushed and fell off as many have said. But was it objectively bad TV? Not even close.

I agree with this completely.

even though the episode was panned and illogical, i was highly entertained by The Long Night (E3S8). most fun i've had watching a tv show in years...maybe ever.

The last season was bad
Ok we spend time in Bravos with arya scrubbing floors and learning to fight blind.
We establish he one advantage over the Waif being that she can fight in the dark. Cut to her being a full on faceless man.
Her killing the night king was a terrible payoff of Jon’s arc.
Dany going mad Queen was rushed in a big was.
Jamie’s entire character arc was ruined.
Bran being king is maybe the dumbest fricking thing I’ve ever heard.
“Who has a better story than Bran”
They cut him out of an entire fricking season.
Not only do the lord accept Bran, but they let Sansa split off the north… so the Starks get to run everything.
Terrible

How much longer would have been the right length? Sort of feels like no matter what, people would have taken an issue with an end point.
Congratulations on being a try hard by bringing up the same stupid statements from 4 years ago.

Watch that, then come back and tell everyone how they would’ve been unhappy with the ending no matter what.

This. It felt like the white walkers had two episodes dedicated to them and then poof. Over.

How could he have been after killing Dany though? Regicide without punishment could not have been permitted.
But Tyrion, the guy who convinces him to kill Dany, gets pretty much everything he wants just because of his little 5 minute motivational speech at the end? He was in prison, dragged out there, wasn't even supposed to be allowed to speak, and then all of a sudden he's talking and a few minutes later he has decided the fate of pretty much everybody and he's free to go. "Hey Jon, I know I was the one who plotted with you to kill Dany, but I'm good at talking so I'm going to send you off to the North and I'll become hand of the King because I'm some kind of brilliant mind." Gtfo dumb and dumber.
That's one of the 100 things wrong with the final episode, much less the final two seasons.

The last few seasons were average to really bad. Season 5 had the Dorne scenes and Sansa rape while Theon watched scene but had Hardhome which redeemed a bunch of crap beforehand. Season 6 had Sansa being a dick to her family and the starks in general distrusting one another so much so that she doesn’t tell him about the Vale troops. Starting in 7 and continuing into 8 the previously mentioned warps, ridiculous character changes, poorly plotted action, dick/fart jokes etc.
There’s a reason these writers still haven’t done anything since. They’re awful.

The episode where the gang goes beyond the wall and then Gendry runs back to tell Dany on Dragonstone even though he's never been north of the wall and wouldn't have any idea where he is just so she can fly in on a dragon and somehow get there in time to lose a dragon and save them even though she is at least half a continent away might be the single dumbest thing I have ever seen a TV show try to pass as a coherent plotline.
They essentially just started writing poor fan fiction to make casuals and "Youtube Reactors" happy.
"Hey you know how people like the Hound, and they like Tormund Giantsbane? Wouldn't it be wacky if we had them team up for an adventure beyond the wall?! It makes sense though because they need to kidnap a zombie and bring it back to Cersei... for reasons"

In comparison to the actual GoT franchise, they were awful.
If you hold them up against other fantasy/medieval shows, its still very good stuff.
I still absolutely hated it.

quote:They had a very good cast, arguably the best visual effects ever for a TV series, and should've gone down as the GOAT TV series...if they had put the same level of effort into writing the script and the show runners wouldn't have been in such a hurry to finish and go do their Star Wars project that never happened anyway.

I think my curiosity is just wondering what people wanted to see.
How about some continuity. They built up this threat of the Night King and White Walkers for 6 years then rush through it. 2 episodes later they are lined up to battle Cersi and Kings Landing with what looks like full troops? Like no one besides the few known characters died? How many Dothraki and Unsullied were there? At the start of the Battle of Winterfell they charge at the White Walkers with weapons lit by the Red witch and looks like they were wiped out but then at the end looks like a full army. Cersi had to get mercenaries after one battle with a dragon but after a battle to near defeat with the existential threat that looms over the show for 6 years, barely a dent?
So many other logistical inconsistencies, the last 2 seasons were clearly rushed.

Should have been 1 full season to deal with the White Walkers and a final one to deal with Cersi instead of 6 episodes for both

My favorite part of season 8 is D&D rushed the ending because they wanted to get to the Star Wars project they had been hired to write, then got fired from Star Wars because they screwed up GoT so badly.

That was good. Another scene that I thought I imagined in a sort of fever dream but I confirmed actually happened is when Bronn shows up in a tent and threatens Tyrion and Jaime with a crossbow. He tells them he wants Highgarden. They tell him ok. Then just like that he ends up being the Lord of Highgarden. Just brilliant storytelling.
