Those 'negatives' seemed mostly there to make the protagonists look quirky and likeable and cool, for the most part.

PBH becoming a snitch as soon as she’s faced with adversity makes her cool?

Bob drinking and driving and staying out til 4 while not taking care of his daughter makes him likable?

Nah man. Outside of Sensei Carlos and Willa, all the characters had some pretty major flaws. But it helps to make the movie interesting!

i left the movie seeing her as one of the primary antagonist.

A major villain and a piece of shite. Responsible for the suffering of innocents, and her own family for self-important self aggrandizement.

Oscar movies/winners often suck, and excellent ones are neglected.

Completely agree. And it’s one of the things that both Bob and Deandra struggle with when talking with Willa. She was truly a terrible person.

No matter how beautiful the turd appears, it is still, ultimately, shite.

I had no sympathy for the characters at all. Anti gov propaganda is a shite approach. Yes, I saw the movie. Waste of time. Not entertained at all.

They lost me in 1999 when the fat rapist blatantly and transparently bought Best Picture for Shakespeare In Love over Saving Private Ryan. I'm sure bribery happened before then, but the openness of it all really tarnished the whole event for me.

OBAA goes out of its way to criticize the liberalness of these revolutionaries. One became a rat and brought the organization down, gave up her daughter to save herself from prison.

But everything is woke to you clowns.

It was a great film with great performances. Paul Thomas Anderson bats 1.000

The Thin Red Line and The Big Lebowski also came out that year.

Did not need to keep reading after this. You are clearly not someone who should be giving their opinion on movies.

I wasn't a huge fan of it, it was ok but it definitely wasn't terrible. Penn himself made it at least interesting. I think f1 or Sinners should have won.

I didn't watch the awards, but this feels like typical lifetime achievement award shite by Academy voters.

"PTA, you've done some better stuff over the years, but we haven't actually given you anything before, so we'll hook you up tonight."

Bill Maher called this "Grandpa's last ride" and cited past examples of guys with long careers who had never won anything before. Henry Fonda and John Wayne being examples.

I never saw One Battle but I saw Sinners, and while it was an entertaining movie, there was very little that was Oscar-worthy about it. Nothing about Jordan's performance struck me as particularly standing out. But I realized long ago that the Oscars are rarely given to the truly best work in a given year. Annie Hall beat out Star Wars in 1978 and five decades later no one under 40 has ever heard of the movie. Woody Allen beat out both Spielberg and George Lucas. We've seen time and again where quality movies that audiences truly love lose out to stuff that Hollywood insiders want to reward.

Are you saying A Beautiful Mind was a bad movie? I know everyone is entitled to his own opinion but you must be an imbecile.

Paint-by-umbers biopic melodrama designed to appeal to old guy Oscar voters? The definition of Oscar Bait. Crash is worse than A Beautiful Mind, but they share more DNA than any fan should be comfortable with. Bad performances made worse by brutal dialogue, heavy handed saccharine nonsense, oversimplification of an incredibly complex issue, unforgivable cliche stacking, shitty cinematography, big manipulative score.

Is this seriously a movie people love and defend? That has not been my experience. Just because the Academy fell for it doesn't mean you have to.
