The ending was great.
Loved that the oldest of the kids was carrying a stuffed animal version of Bubastis at the end

Also love that the bar John met Angela in was called “Mr. Eddy’s” which alludes to what the Vietnam woman called the Comedian when she confronted him about knocking her up.

Y’all are crazy, that was a great ending. Edge of my seat all the way into the theater. Great show, great finale. Really hoping they come up with a compelling storyline for a second season
Yeah that was a really good ending to a great season. I don’t want a continuation of it either and that’s not easy to say because I really enjoyed these characters/actors and want more. The story was just perfectly wrapped up though. Let it be.

It perfectly wrapped up for the main characters, but I feel like some of the minor stuff has to be setting up a season 2.
For example, what the hell was the point of Lube Man? Did he ever come up again after sliding into the sewer? I have to assume that was in there for a reason, and since the reason didn’t materialize this season, I assume they’ve got some connection in mind for a season 2.
A second season would have to be radically different from the first, but I don’t think they need to start from scratch. Maybe super-Angela leads a resurgence of masked vigilantes to keep the peace after veidt’s lie is exposed and the Cold War is reignited. Would also give us a chance to get more looking glass, which I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of. Awesome character.

I thought that was a pretty solid finale for a really entertaining season of television. I was impressed with how well it matched the tone of the comics, and while part of me wants more, I think this might be best suited as a 1 season show.
I think it was just a quick scene to highlight what Watchmen is truly about: the absurdity of masked heroes/vigilantes

I don’t think that they stuck the landing, but mostly because the leaks and reddit “guesses” had spelled out almost the entire finale. They wrapped it nicely though with a few surprises. I liked that Trieu’s using the 7th was simply so that Manhattan couldn’t see her coming. Her forcing Viedt to strike a superhero pose for his hibernation was a nice jab. Jean Smart was the tits from start to finish. Seeing Archie again was touching. I wish we’d seen it in flight one last time.

7/10 season
5/10 finale
Cookie cutter hbo show. I'll forget it by tomorrow

What the show does so well is take great source material and expand on it a way that doesn’t deviate or distract from the original tone and messages. The Easter eggs and homages alone were worth watching for but the plot was enjoyable as was the way it was presented. In that way, though, you’re going to be missing something if you’re not familiar with the original story. It’s good sci fi without but it’s appointment tv with.

Great finale. Just wish we couldve gotten reeves dressed as hooded justice to zap the Cyclops racists instead of Treiu.
Loved Ozymandias saving the world again. I thought he was joining Treiu.
He really does try to protect the earth even though he has fricked up ways of doing it.

I didn't care for the tone for Veidt and Laurie in the finale. Too comedic. Veidt in the series was an incredible character- the most dangerous one, given how Jon was flaked out. In this, he was an insufferable bore.

Also- this showed Adrian filming the video from Karnak with multiple, multiple people helping. This is so completely off kilter from the comic, it's absurd. He went to incredible lengths to make sure that NO ONE knew of his plan- including killing Moloch, a freighter full of people, The Comedian, and his own few servants/houseboys at Karnak. Here, he is WAY too free with the information.

I’m the comics he had people helping him the entire way and killed them to hid his plan. He did the same to these people, one simply got away in the mist of the culmination of his final plan

I actually liked the tone. The whole point was that all of Veidt’s planning had been for nothing and that the world had passed him by. Even being sent to what he thought was paradise was a huge mistake. It’s one of the core tenants of Watchmen, that even super geniuses like Veidt and deities like John are still infallible. Everyone has flaws, nobody is ever truly happy

It is very difficult to crack an egg barehanded like Angela did without completely crushing it. With all the crazy shite going on, I immediately thought, "That's not realistic."

Yes- good points made

They were so close to pulling it off and then that last scene just took you right out

I'm sure I missed some obvious shite but I still don't understand why Dr. Manhatten basically allowed himself to be captured/die?
When he was in the house with Angela, he knew the dudes were out there with the zapper, so why didn't he just very easily kill them all? It seems like he felt he had to die, but I don't really understand why?

I think that to win the battle against Dr. Manhatten you have to convince him that he will lose. Once he believes that losing is inevitible (or that he has to lose to achieve a goal) he's done.
