lulz. The filmmakers thought audience members like you were too stupid to understand emotional nuance by simply portraying Val Kilmer as is, so instead they hedged their bets by force-feeding you melodrama by having Val Kilmer die off screen.

Congratulations on being the kind of uncultured retard the filmmakers figured you for.

I realize that putting all those words together made you feel cool. But in reality it just makes you look more stupid. There's only one retard in this thread so far, and it's not me.

Really think for a moment about how scummy the filmmakers' did Val, the actor and human being, in that movie.

I mean, if Val felt that way he could have not done the movie

Jodie Foster trying to be feminine is peak cringe. It’s been a long time since seeing that movie. All i remember is how bad Foster was in it.

The part where Mel Gibson and Danny Glover see each other and the Lethal Weapon riff plays makes me still

. I saw it as a wonderful tribute to Val Kilmer. It’s likely the only one he will ever get.

for anyone who hasn't seen it I highly recommend the bio/documentary Val

Ice had to die because he was always Mav’s buffer to keep him out of trouble. If he doesn’t die and Cyclone doesn’t kick Mav off the mission we don’t get the redemption scene of Mav showing the run can be completed in the time limit needed and everything after that.

Val does Maverick a huge solid by reprising his classic role in the franchise,

Too bad Kelly McGillis didn't want to give a huge solid. Would have been awesome for the "franchise" which until TG:M consisted of exactly one movie.

The fact they used the real actor suffering from the same disease and actually killed him off seemed pretty shitty just to manipulate a few tears from the audience.

no, it was the setup to put maverick in a no win situation to force him to proove he was right, and that lead to him going on, and leading the mission himself.

if iceman doesnt die, maverick doesnt fly that mission

Damn near every line in Maverick was hilarious in retrospect and an absolutely perfectly cast film.

Gibson was also peak charisma. I've never really seen anyone else with that kind of screen presence besides maybe apex John Wayne or Paul Newman.

One of the few times I have genuinely enjoyed a performance by Jodie Foster. Not saying she hasn’t been good in other roles, but she is usually in serious roles with some kind of miserable thing going on with her or around her. It was surprising to see how great she was in this. I also remember her being someone pushing for forgiveness of Mel.

What a weird fricking melt to even remotely assume that Val Kilmer was somehow done wrong in TG:M

they did him right in finding a way to include him, make his character a key plot figure and explain how a man who cant speak was still an active duty Admiral in the Navy.

You sound like Val was victimized. You don’t think he okayed whatever they did?

They did Val/Iceman right, especially considering his real life issues and limitations.

I greatly enjoyed this movie and have watched it at least 5 times (twice in the theater and multiple times in Blu-ray).

Personally, I think Mav should have died saving Rooster. Closed the circle with Goose and a hell of an impactful moment. My guess is that was the original ending and test audiences rebelled against it.
