I thought they did a great job with giving Val a powerful role despite his real life problems. It would’ve been easier to just write him out but they didn’t and they gave the character a great send off.

I assumed Val was good with it and that’s why they did it. But yeah, I did think they should have just let him live and say he retired for his health.
