Watching friends for the first time and a few things I’ve noticed

Rachel and Ross are horrible human beings and there relationship is toxic and petty for the majority of the show after they break up (maybe this changes later on) and so far they are by far my least liked characters. Also people try to take advantage of Joey and he gets fricked over quite a bit because he’s so honest and genuine even though he’d do anything for any of them. Sorry no pics of Rachel and monicas rack they are pretty nice but idk how to upload photos from mobile

Self-indulgent, self-absorbed twenty-somethings are shitty people?
No way!
No way!

You can't view the mid-1990s for the first time with 2019 eyes. The mind virus of our modern society will destroy your ability to enjoy it for what it was.

My biggest takeaway from Friends is that Lisa Kudrow has shockingly become the most attractive cast member from the show. She's somehow found a way to get super hot and more attractive as she's gotten older. This is a woman in her mid 50s, folks.

I was in the minority with this back in the days. Regarding the show, It’s an ok sitcim for beginners. But once you watched funnier shows(Seinfeld, Frazier), you cant go back.

I mean, Jennifer Aniston is one of the hottest women out there

Phoebe was the only character on that show I liked, and fans of the show hated her for some reason.
But that's not saying much because I mostly hated the show and didn't watch it very often.

She seemed like pointless comic relief for the longest time, they finally found some footing with that character later in the run and she was really good. Paul Rudd is essentially good in everything and I loved when they brought him on.
As far s them being horrible people, yeah they had those self absorbed young New Yorker moments here and there, but at least they weren't the monsters that the people of Seinfeld was. One of my favorite things about Friends was the dumb womanizer was the most loyal friend of the bunch, and NEVER screwed anyone over.

All of them are pretty terrible people. But that’s what sitcoms are for. These characters actually do the things we want to, but are too polite or realize how unproductive those actions would be. Part of the humor of Friends are those “S/He’s not really going to do that...” moments.
Remember, they are 20 somethings learning how to grow up.
What’s great about those three HUGE NBC 90s sitcoms (Friends, Seinfeld, Frasier) is how they are written for such different audiences, but are still able to find broad, mass appeal. All of them won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series and rightly so.
Enjoy the show for how funny it is and the phenomenal chemistry that cast had. You can tell they all genuinely like each other and are having a great time.

Joey and younger Chandler were the goat!

She's supposed to be a real See You Next Tuesday IRL, but to be sure that's not why you watch her at her prime on Friends.

she's painfully unfunny. Most of her comedic bits rely on yelling or accentuating different words in a sentence kind of like this, LIKE THIS! I don't blame lisa kudrow one bit, I just don't think the phoebe character had a lot of wit or humor behind her.

Maybe not directly but it's still an indescribably shitty thing for him to pursue Rachel after her and ross were "a thing" for what, like at least 6 or 7 years at this point? So they're separated and Joey moves in..even if Ross says he's ok with it, that's just something you don't do. Also didn't they both try to woo the black girl? Can't remember who was with her first. My biggest gripe though about joey is they gave him the kevin malone treatment and turned him from airhead into utterly retarded. Early joey is a cool, suave ladies man that just isn't book smart. Towards the end of the series there are moments where he can barely form sentences together.

Joey was always my least favorite character. Mrs. Vox had me watch both seasons of his spin-off show, and I have to admit, he grew on me once he got out of NYC.

All 6 of them would classify as horrible human beings.
Watch the Cracked After Hours they did on the show. Gunther is the only redeemable human being on there.

Pffft, this tends to be somewhat universally true. Give any show 20 years or more, and it typically doesn't age well.
People might point to individual shows as how that isn't true (like MASH), but that's one show during that era out of how many?
MOST shows end up eroding to being a "why on earth did I enjoy this" given enough time.

Am I the only one who thinks Phoebe was the hot one?
