Damn, that Al is one mischievous mother fricker.

We just recently watched it for the first time. I had heard so many great things. The reason to watch it, frankly, is McShane's Al.

It is funny how you initially think Al is the worst human on the planet then Cy and George show up.

One of my favorite lines ever:
quote:
The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man, and give some back.

I watched this series way back in the day. Actually stopped short like 3 episodes of finishing. Not sure why...
Been wanting to catch up with it and then watch the movie maybe.
Good series as I recall.

One of my favorite lines from Albwas along the lines of “Gabriel’s trumpet will blow you out the arse if a pig.”

The fight scene between Dan and Captain Turner was phenomenal.

Great show/dialogue. Only thing I disliked was how the preacher's story ended. Actor did to good a job & the sadness in his death.

The combination of crude vulgarity sprinkled with bits of formal English was powerful stuff. My favorite example was Farnum, having just been allowed to take the Mayoral office, is ushered out of the real meeting at the Gem. His response:
"August beginning to my administration: stymied on the front porch with a degenerate tit-licker."

Alright, I need someone to settle this for me once and for all. I've tried watching Deadwood 2-3 times in the past but have never stuck with it past Season 1. I know it is a good show, I know the cast is fantastic, and I know that I love the time period it's set in.
BUT, the Calamity Jane character and her storyline just completely derail me after 4-5 episodes every, single, time.
Does she get killed? Does she disappear? Does the god awful accent, ridiculous language, or overall appearance of her change in any way throughout the course of the series?
TIA.

Diff'rent strokes...
I love Jane's character. She gets a love interest in Ms. Stubbs in season 2, I think.

So many great one liners from that series.
“I'd rather try touching the moon than take on a whore's thinking.”
— Al Swearengen
“Pain or damage don’t end the world, or despair or fricking beatings. The world ends when you’re dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man—and give some back.”
