That movie is so fricking good.
But Djimon Hounsou is the major reason.

Blood Diamond*

Leo should have won an award for that. To me it's his best work. At no time did I think, "This is Leo with an accent." He nailed the character.

I thought it was a superior acting job than The Revenant. Hell. I thought Catch Me If You Can was a better Leo performance too.

Great movie though. Djimon acted his arse off too. Every scene with his son was brutal.

Yeah, that is my favorite performance by him. He really did a good job with that character and that movie was great I thought

Amazing movie. It does a good job really hitting the heartstrings with how fricked up the diamond trade was (or, knowing this world, probably still is).

The revenant was a career award. I actually think Tom Hardy was the superior actor in that film.

I like that movie. That was the first movie I saw him as an adult. He still looked like a kid in everything before 2006. He looked grown in The Departed too, but I saw Blood Diamond first.

Facts.

Body of Lies is the movie I think of when people bring up underrated Leo performances.

Do you know anything about DiCaprio's real life? Because Wolf of Wall Street was about as close as we'll ever see to the real Leo on screen. He was basically just playing an amped up version of himself.... Not too much acting going on.

Hardy was better.

The Departed and Blood Diamond both came out in 2006, that was when Leo truly caught fire. To me, those are Leo's greatest roles, it's just hard to beat how convincing he was as a South African gangster or the intensity he played as Costigan.

I know it's become such a huge meme but my other favorite role of his was Calvin Candie, I love when great actors just say frick it and have fun with a role. I laughed my arse off when that first shot of him hit in Django

Never seen it before. I tried watching it tonight but couldn’t get passed the opening scene. I just couldn’t handle them doing what they did to the kid.
