Also, not sure if he's already seen them, but OP's son should watch all the old school Disney cartoons as well. I saw him list Pixar movies earlier, but the old Disney animated movies are badass.

Pinocchio
Snow White
Lady and teh Tramp
Dumbo
Alice in Wonderland
Bambi
Peter Pan
Sword in the Stone
Robin Hood
etc.

Time Bandits Explorers

Good call by the OP on Explorers. Fun forgotten movie for an elementary age kid. Time Bandits was a trip too. Speaking of movies with little people in them, what was the early 80s movie with Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn in it that had several dwarfs as characters?

I'll add a really entertaining one along the lines of the Dark Crystal and that's Labyrinth. That one is iffy for a 6 year old though. The Chilly Down Fire Starter scene freaked me out as a kid.

Nice. Forgot about that one...definitely a staple of my childhood.

Gremlins might freak out a 6 year old.

Go with The Peanut Butter Solution if you want to give him nightmares.

you think a 6 year old would laugh at the migration pattern of a swallow?

You know, I remember even when I was a kid thinking that the end of this movie was dumb

The kid builds his little flying machine and flies all over the world. He's a kid. How's he eat? Afford fuel for the thing?

I know it's a kids movie, but it wasn't a fantasy. It's just dumb.

Oh man, I had totally forgotten about that movie. My parents took me to see it when I was a wee-child...I remember laughing like crazy at all...well all the stuff we can't laugh at anymore.

But I don't remember if anything was raunchy??

If the goal is to scare your young son and insure him nightmares for the rest of his elementary school years skip all the movies and read "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark". The stories and the artwork in that book are scary and intense for an adult much less a child.

I don't think a 6-year-old would understand why it's stupid and hilarious.

I also vote for Legend.

I think it is more of how they act than the dialogue

I'm sure they would get the whole fart in your general direction lines, but I'd still imagine it would be hard to keep their attention throughout the movie since most of what is great about Monty Python is the dialogue.

I couldn't even get my niece to sit through The Muppets.

I think his little brother really died from his injuries, or on take off, and it's too painful to remember it that way.
