Agreed. But you know the people up north and the city people have no idea.

Just like J-Paul and his dad catching those "poachers." All that was for was for climax. They had a spotlight with them, but whenever they saw the "poacher" they didn't use it anymore and the lost the thief? yeeeaaahhhh.....no. When you're up on someone like that on the water, you're not going to lose them. They never had their spotlight on them. You can follow the wake of a boat.

I know alot of it is scripted, but it's still entertaining, IMO. Plus, I can relate to those guys. Not alligators, but commercial fishing.

My favorite part is the alligators in the water. From the time they pull the line up to the time they get it in the boat they edit and add in so much the alligator changes sizes three times!

Eta: husband always comments on how the boats or guns will be different in the same scene.

I like how all of them have some monster gator that they've been tracking for years, and when they finally catch it, it's like 8 ft.

I know troy personally, some of it is somewhat scripted, if you notice all the guys wear the same clothes every episode. That's because they will take 2 or 3 days worth of filming/hunting and put them on one episode

I also met Trapper Joe and Tommy at mike andersons in gonzales about 2 weeks ago!!

This season you can tell that it is more staged, but it is still pretty good.

I think they need to renew it for another season, but focus on other things besides alligator hunting; crawfishing, crabbing, shrimping, trapping, frogging, fishing, etc.

My 6 year old loves him. I think she would freeze up if she actually met him in person. I need to bring her down there.

at the Holiday Inn!

My dad and I used to eat there on Friday nights before LSU games.

We ate the breakfast bar at Shoneys every Sat. morning.

We usually got Popeyes on the way to the stadium unless we were going to a tailgate.

We also used to get Hubigs pies at a convenience store next to the motel we stayed at.

We stayed in Gonzales because I flew in and out of Louis Armstrong airport.

The River Road got us back to our motel in Gonzales quicker than we could get back to any other motel in BR. Took about 20 minutes!

I know, Great Story Bro!

pretty sure Troy is big in crawfishing too. Not saying you're wrong but they could add the angle. seems like that's where they are headed with the 2 gar fishermen.

I haven't watched a whole episode this year. What are those guys doing with gar?

Are they eating them or just exterminating them?

they went down a list of ways they prepare it bubba gump style, then they decided on fried gar patties and acted like it was the best shite ever.

I could just think of a tourist coming here and trying to eat that shite.

I grew up in Vidalia. We used to catch a lot of gar in the bar pits over there.

We never kept them but we pulled them up against the boat and killed them.

The two brothers are my favorite because that's legit way of life to some folks. The only thing they seem to spend money on is beer.

The gar balls and patties are pretty good. You're not going to frick with trying to prepare it though unless you're 1) Trying it for novelty 2) Broke arse poor.

When you clean them they have to be bled, cracked and deboned by hand. Can be excessively tedious if you have a bunch...and that one small gar didn't feed them. That was at least 3-4 little ones in that batch. I've killed Gar three times as that and didnt get a solid amount of gar balls and patties out of that.

I hear he owns a gator farm in Rayne as well?

So that's pretty much a year round thing and he's not exactly hurting for money.
