Haven't watched Cable in years, but finally got U-Verse for the HD sports channels. Last night, caught my first episode of Swamp People, the episode about gator poachers and the alligator gar fishing brothers.

I thought it was an interesting show, I love the legit accents. What does everyone else here think about it?

it has become too staged this season

i agree that it appears way too staged and stretched this season, but it is still a very enjoyable show and ill still be watching

This is why I'm put off by "reality" TV in general, most of what I've seen lately is noticeably scripted.

Those two brothers out in BFE seemed totally legit, though. I love the scene where they're fishing for gar, the guy pulls the worm out of the water to spit on it, and catches a perch a few seconds later.

Even spotted a can of Tony's when they were making gar patties

Tis Awesome

Choot 'Em

P.S. Not staged. People act like it's Real World or The Bachelor.

I've only seen part of two of them this year.
The old ones seemed better to me.

You are right about the people being authentic cajuns though. It's woth watching just to hear them talking.

Troy Landry and the others talk the exact way Hollywood and Yankees assume all Louisiana folk talk

I agree, there is way too much use of stock shots this year. Every time they are about to shoot a gator we get the stock shot from under the water or their faces as water from the shot splashes up.

i think everything they show happens, but the film crew edits some things just to make it more dramatic. in doing so a scene that is supposed to be catching something might be from 2-3 different days. as said in other threads, that's why they all wear the same clothes everyday.

Exactly.

Editing to increase drama will ALWAYS happen. That is COMPLETELY different than 'staging' certain events or plots.

Those gar patties looked pretty good.

No way Bruce's dog Tyler was gone for as long as they said. He probably was gone for 15 minutes tops.

I don't hunt, but I wouldn't mind getting a river tour with the guy.

I've always said I would jump at that opportunity but I would want to be handling the gun.

You mean he didn't have 24 hours worth of gas to ride around like he said?
