Am I the only one that just thinks this show is ok? Yeah, its got good production values and whatnot, but I'm not liking any of the characters, aside from maybe that Loki guy, and its not quotable at all. Maybe Game of Thrones spoiled me where in the first episode they just did such a great job in setting up a dozen interesting characters and mythology.

I mean its certainly not on the same level as Game of Thrones but hell only a handful of shows in TV history are. You can't really judge it on that scale.

It's good television. Nothing ground breaking or exceptional just solid all the way around.

You have to give them credit. They'e presenting a series where he protaganists paricpate in things like murder, rape and robbery. And not doing bad job of it.

Seems like they are using Ragnar' brother more heavily for those types of things to keep Ragar himself as sympathetic as possible.

Yeah, they're also using Ragnar's relationship with his wife to gain sympathy. I don't know that too many viking husbands would put up with their wives yelling at them, punching them, hitting them with shields, etc., even if they are/were shieldmaidens and can actually kill a dude. Ragnar's familial relationships make him very accessible, as does his dream of "heading west" (Manifest Destiny, anyone?). Moreover, he spares the priest's lives, defying his brother over it. I don't know that Ragnar's character is the most historically accurate, but he is an incredibly sympathetic character.

The show is enjoyable to watch, even if it doesn't measure up to the best of the best.

Vikings had smoking hot wives. I know it's true because it's on the History channel.

Well if the society is based on being a badd-arse you would think the biggest bad-asses have the best looking women.

Who gets the head cheerleader in High School? The Captain of the Football team.

I am definitely alone in saying this but I like this show better than game of thrones or at least the first season of game of thrones. All they ever do in GOT is talk. There were three fight scenes the whole show.

Vikings they. Skip the boring parts and I guess that's not the point of GOT but I was definitely drawn in hoping for some action to go along with make believe politics.

I like Game of Thrones more but Vikings has me just as hooked. Ragnar is awesome. How he holds himself and his personality is badass. The dude has some serious old school swagger.

The only problem with the show is I don't really care about King Aella. Earl Heraldson and his little gnome bitch were much better characters.

I was also hoping to see the Valkyries take the old man up to Valhalla this episode.

Ragnar invaded England again. He won. Lagertha had a miscarriage.
