It's similar to when the Christian Right tried to ban D&D by burning the books.
That they were buying.
Which meant that the TSR was making more sales.
And printing more books.

Velma might have more to do with Satan than D&D to be fair

how is it possible in 2023 to still have a complete fundamental misunderstanding of what cancel culture is

From the Howard Stern movie Private Parts:
Researcher : The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.
Pig Vomit : How can that be?
Researcher : Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."
Pig Vomit : Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?
Researcher : Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.
Pig Vomit : But... if they hate him, why do they listen?
Researcher : Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

People need to stop hate watching bad shite.

Where's the proof there was any 'hate watching' at all? The numbers of actual VIEWS is sketchy at most. The site that claims 127% spike isn't telling the whole story. It deals in 'internet reaction', and not so much actual views.
An established IP is going to get curiosity views right out of the box, to see what the show is all about. It's built into the product. Hollywood KNOWS this and uses it to promote their shite shows anyways. It's the same time and time again. Take a popular, well known IP, trash it for snorts an giggles, and then act all fake offended that people are dunking on the race / gender swapping or terrible writing.

Do you just live in your own reality? I mean I’m not going to lie it’s quite impressive

How you believe everything you're told, after what we've seen in recent years, is far more impressive.
But not for the reasons you'd think.

I do not but when reality is smacking me right in the face I don’t put on a tin foil hat just because said reality goes against what I want the truth to be

Also got my weirder classmates even more interested in the game, trying to believe there was something more to it than a nerd circle jerk.

ditto. but i only made it 15 minutes in and it was indeed warranted.
i don't believe that it's the most watched minutes per episode (on a % standpoint) under any circumstances.

What 'reality'? Be specific. Parret Analytics?
Those aren't real numbes!

Of course they aren’t, like I said you can never accept being wrong so you just further take yourself down the rabbit hole

Umm, stop clowning yourself long enough to realize there are no hard solid viewing numbers for Velma.
Behind the *numbers*. Parret Analytics. RKOutpost video
They track mentions on social media, not true ratings.
'Audience demand' isn't actual views.

Damn.
I had no idea.
OP of the thread here.
I just linked it because I saw it being highly upvoted on Reddit.
But I've also read that Velma is going to have a 2nd season. If this is true (big IF), surely that would imply that WB think it was somewhat of a success?

I watched episode 1 because in general, I don't buy everything the MTV board says. There's been multiple things this board says was woke trash, but I actually enjoyed.
Not this one. The show sucks. It deserves every piece of criticism.

I'm sure the suits at WB believe that the series is in "high demand".
Remember, this is the same studio that canned Henry Cavill but kept Ezra Miller & Amber Heard.
Without Respect, We Reject!

I did the same thing. I liked Kaling with The Office and have liked other animated HBO shows like Harley Quinn.
This one was absolutely atrociously bad. Just really, really bad. And I think folks probably tuned in hoping it wouldn't be trash.
The streaming numbers will drop through the floor in the following weeks I'm willing to bet.
