In Parrot Analytics's latest data series report from The Wrap, it has been revealed that the Scooby-Doo series has secured the second spot on this week's ranking for the most in-demand new shows, placing a bit higher than HBO's The Last of Us. Following its debut last Jan. 12, the series unexpectedly attracted a lot of attention in the U.S., as the demand for the show increased up to 127 percent. Velma's viewership performance this week is 37.3 times higher than an average series.

Regardless of its low critic and audience scores, Velma's two-episode premiere had set a new viewership record for HBO Max, as it became the streamer's most-watched animated series debut to date.

I feel this may just be more of a morbid curiosity for the show rather than genuine interest. I watched the first episode to see if the criticism was warranted.

Oh yeah, it's 100% this.

I do wonder if HBO is going to renew it though because the reviews are terrible.

But I've seen some people say it wasn't great but there's no way it's the worst show in history which is what the reviews suggest.

The reviews are a combination of bad show, and disappointment of lifelong fans.

When you deal in an iconic series like Scooby Doo, that everyone grew up on, and you fundamentally frick with the characters. . .you are going to get a large subset of fans angry.

If you also try to toe a line between being super-woke and abruptly offensive, while not even trying to be funny. . .you piss off the rest of the fans.

This was the most tone-deaf thing Kaling has ever done. It is purposeless, aimless, and useless.

How many animated shows does HBO churn out? And how many of them got the advertisement pocket that “Velma” got?

There was zero chance they cancel it, because the woke mob would just screech that the network "bowed to the pressure of misogynist incels"!

But the reviews didn't change. That's what some refuse to acknowledge.

If the studio wants to pretend that people driving by to look at the car wreck equates to the show being popular, then they're doing it wrong.

They cancelled Santa, Inc, they can cancel this show too.

Some of you really believe the fantasy and think that review bombing shite is gonna make a difference.

You know what the only 5 jobs HBO-MAX is actively looking to hire on their site amidst round after round of cuts? Data scientists/engineers. They don't give a frick about your review bombs. They have far better internal metrics to glean info from.

If you idiots cant stop hate-watching the shite you claim to be against, they are just going to take that as positive feedback and make more of it. The right sucks at cancel culturing, even though they so desperately want to be good at it...

Review bombing is a myth.

Unless you're going to talk about the fake reviews of a show before it even airs. Which does happen.

I'm not hate watching anything. Don't have HBO Max. Don't need to watch any of it to know it's awful. Even former voice actors (Daphne) are dunking on this show.

And yet, here you are, shilling and white-knighting for the worst show on TV.

You do you.

I could give a frick about Velma aside from it's success triggering desperate amounts of cope with you. Which I find endlessly amusing.

Good...make a season two.

YouTubers are going to make a fricking killing monetizing that shitty trainwreck of a show.

Review bombing = when a show get horrible reviews

Not Review Bombing = When paid for access media slobbers over a show even before release

I find that odd, you?
