I don't think people want Thunderbolts to fail. It's a bunch of second rate characters that no one cares about, with some from D+ shows that most people didn't watch. Marvel doesn't have enough good will right now to make that successful, unlike when GOTG came out.

Only reason to make it with no Depp is if it’s a prequel and a younger actor plays young Jack. We get the full story vs just mentions snippets of trapping Salazar, see out all the events of the deal with Jones to get the black pearl, pirate lord etc. I could get behind that. They would have to cast it out of the park though to not be a flop. And would still want a Depp cameo at the end!
