The shoot out scene in the projects where Rustin was undercover to me is the best scene in television history. Great shite.

Season 2 story was better than Season 3. Season 3 acting was way better than Season 2 though.

ETA: for those downvoting me, there is no way any of yall (or anyone on earth) rewatched either of season 2 or 3

On my first watch I was disappointed in the last couple episodes of S1

On rewatch they dont bother me as much

E1-5 were about the best television I have ever seen though

I've never been so freaked out by a cop-type show before. Great 1st season. The failed drug robbery had my heart pumpin'. Really shot well. 2 could have been so much better. Are they still doing a 4th?

Do yourself a favor and ignore the temptation to watch season 2. It's got a big-name cast but it was truly awful.

It was so bad I couldn’t ever start season 3. You think it would be hard for the performances to be more depressing than the subject matter of a True Detective season, but they managed to pull it off.

I had to quit watching Season 2 so this thread caused me to look up the plot yesterday. Wow! What a steaming confusing pile of crap.

I loved Season 1 as well.

The Louisiana setting contributed to me liking it twice as much.

I’m very jealous of you getting to watch that for the first time. The greatest season in television history.

2 kinda sucks. 3 is ok but doesn’t approach the greatness of 1

I never watched all of it either.

The whole story of the overweight wimpy son of Colin Farrell's character, was like watching Vice Principals. It just distracted from the show.

No shite. Edge of your seat television and you didn’t want the episode to end

Because 1 was one of the best series ever. 3 is more focused on the relationship of the two detectives over the underlying story. 1 had both.
