I'd rather them fricking end it than to let her oversee it. I'll watch because I assume there will be a season long thread like this one whether it's this bad or worse. I have absolutely zero hope of it being any better

For real? I'm out on that. This was a shitshow and I found myself asking over and over, "did I just hear that/see that" because it was so bad. Absolutely pathetic writing.

I don't leave reviews on tv/movies, but if it's easy enough we should all go to rotten tomatoes and try to bring down the inflated rating by bots and filters.

Im sure the Reddit team has already attempted.

After seeing ratings on there, along with other sites for shows like this. I'm 100% convinced they are in the tank and deleted/manipulate the data based off how much $$$ the studio throws them.

I just got around to finally watching the finale last night. I admit that I gave this season a lot of slack and was not hating on it.

However, now that I can absorb it all….this is definitely one big steaming pile of shite with “True Detective” stamped on it.

Season 2 is happy with season 4.

What's important is how many people watched the whole series and that is an impressive number. It sounds terrible so i'm not going to waste my time but it put butts in the seats so to speak.

Yep- they're blinded by the numbers. The idiot Lopez added imagery from Season 1, and people were hooked into it- then kept watching the trainwreck to see if there was a payoff.
There wasn't.
This is much like the most recent Star Wars trilogy- I equate it with The Last Jedi. She killed the franchise with this one. The next one will have horrible ratings and a fraction of the audience.

The bright side is that it can only get better from here.

Was season 3 actually good or were we so let down by season 2 that it seemed good?

I actually enjoyed Season 3. A good takeoff of the West Memphis Three.
At it's base- TD is more about the main detectives and their bonds that they develop. That's why Season 1 worked so wwell, and why Season 3 was solid.

I have to say that the first episode...and even the second were not horrible. It was borderline unwatchable by the end...although, I did force myself to close it out. Had I known what I was getting myself into, I would not have given up those hours of my life that I can't get back.

I haven't watched S2, but after the vomit that was S4, I watched S3. I finished it last night.

I liked it.

A lot.

I'd say as much as S1, but nothing compares to Alexandria Dadario's underboob scene. But the STORY and ACTING are damn good.

I was very impressed with all of the principle actors and the story was actually about detective work. Hayes and West investigated, followed leads, brainstormed on suspects, motives, and plot points. The ending was a little bit of a let down in that the whole reveal was a narrative on a platter from one character. But at least it was a clear explanation of what happened.

I think S3 deserves more credit.

I thought season 3 was good as well. Especially after season 2 and now after season 4.

I didn't get to watch it until yesterday...whooo boy .

Question: I could have sworn there was a terrible continuity error in Ep 2 or 3 which was "after permanent nightfall" but which showed them coming out into morning light. Anyone else?

Speaking of dumb script supervisor type errors: in the finale, they had Jodie foster walking around with her parka open. Please.

I didn't see any mention of this, but I'm pretty sure if you run the risk/reward for what the scientists thought they had in hand, it would CLEARLY be worth it to sacrifice one town on the North Slope in exchange for saving hundreds of millions around the globe. Not condoning crimes, but just saying it takes the edge off of their evilness - particularly since one would assume that other "indigenous" peoples would benefit from the discovery around the globe.

I still don't understand if it was supernatural or not. So...was it or wasn't it?

Beyond that, I agree with every single criticism raised in this thread. This wasn't even an abortion - it was a BOTCHED abortion.

The crazy thing is, I don't think hardly anyone has a problem with a show about strong women and "historically disadvantaged" groups. But the execution needs to be much less ham fisted and, you know - COHERENT.

I'm surprised how much shade season 3 gets. I still think the first half of that season might be my favorite of any show of all time.

I thought the same thing but someone told me on here that mornings still have light or something. I really thought they played up the "always dark" thing before that but I didn't care enough to go back and look again. Seemed like a continuity error to me too

I really did enjoy the first 3 episodes of this show; aside from the musical choices. Then it just got so damn bad.

I was even willing to suspend my disbelief in the fact that a bunch of maids terrified a group of grown men so much that they went along with going out in the cold. But to have the two detectives follow a bunch of meaningless threads only to get a Deus Ex Machina ending made me despise the show. Some of the worst writing I've ever seen on HBO
