Tigerdroppings is a bubble, the opinions on here aren't often what's reflected in the real world. But I honestly thought this was going to be widely hated, not widely loved.
no, you are witnessing (and falling for) a psy-op in real time. they are aggressively filtering/boosting comments on the sites that they control, and the reviewers ("professional critics")are for the most part paid-for shills. read reddit comments. read twitter comments that arent associated with the studio. the show is getting slaughtered.
look at this thread alone - almost universal hatred even across posters who argue tooth and nail with each other on political type stuff (including yours truly). how would such a cross section of posters on this board represent a "bubble"?

this one is easily explained using both Eskimo Girl Magic AND Ennis Magic.

- poltergeist appear at the hospital
- figure behind Navarro when trying to turn on generator
i believe these were all due to Ennis Magic, but the orange and the figure in the generator room may have had a touch of Eskimo Girl Magic.

Maybe people would have rejected the superhero movie era we could get better movies and TV shows. That's when everything went downhill

In a way I have to give Issa credit for providing a twist no one saw coming with Mop Team 6…
I would believe ghosts or aliens killing that scientist team off before a rag tag group of cleaning ladies.

The writing got absolutely terrible as the season went on but even if you totally ignore that, the actual mystery of the season was just not that interesting. It was a really bad season that basically wasted Jodie foster

Anyone explain how pollution makes it easier to get core samples?
Where are all the men in this Eskimo culture?
Who is banging all these big Eskimo women?

In the first episode, there was a shadowy figure meant to sort of jump scare us while the delivery driver was first discovering that the crew was missing.
Are we to presume that was Clark or the ghost of Annie k?

Holy frick
This season was comically terrible
It’s almost like they tried to make this show terrible. They couldn’t have deliberately tried to make it good and ended up with this
Embarrassing to say I wasted 6-7 hours on this pile of shite

IMO the opening scene is a reveal as to how the scientists died.... a native points a firearm at them and rather than stand there to be shot, they run the opposite direction towards certain death.
Either that, or it was the caribou version of the recurring suicide theme ("walking out towards the ice")

Ringer Watch Pod that I listen to loved the show early on and completely ripped it after the finale
Prestige TV Podcast?
I haven't listened to the finale recap, but I guess I will do that today. As much as I love some of their content I expected Joanna to be all positive for this season.

Clark confirmed it was him...he said he was hungry, so he left the bunker.
As for the tongue and a few other things...they conflated Annie and "She/Her" a few times. So, it might have been Annie that stormed the lab with the cleaning crew and then death-scared all the scientists...but it was She/Her who did it to Otis (because Annie hadn't died yet).
Ultimately there isn't a clean fact v fantasy resolution. They coexist in that world.
Ugh. This reads like a defense of the show, it is not. I was not as disappointed with the finale as I expected to be (they did cram a lot of info/backstory into it), but the series as a whole fell pretty fricking flat.

His reference was the Watch, which I also listened to.
You could tell after 4 they were like "oh this isn't going to go well" but kept sucking up to Lopez.
They still relied on euphemistic language for the last episode. You can tell they really thought it was garbage but can't be honest due to media relationships.

i genuinely would like to know what people enjoyed about this season, to the people who are claiming this season was good.

It's one of those things where we pretend that since the leads are female, it's some empowerment scenario, even though the show really presents the women terribly and makes them look like incompetent buffoons who are terrible people who are also bad at their jobs.
I have also seen a vein of people celebrating "they answered all the questions!", which is somewhat insane because (1) they did not and (2) most of the major mysteries were answered with the most incomprehensibly stupid bullshite ever put on TV.

imo it was so bad that the entire series set women back 50 years

Foster was very good in her role.
Like most of True Detective, it’s mostly about mood, tone and personalities than it is about specific plot detail.

and the ones that werent answered, i think we're supposed to shrug and say "that's just Ennis, where weird shite happens"
i looked this phenomenon up on TVtropes, because it seems like sort of a quasi-deus ex machina, but it's not quite that. the concepts/tropes i landed on are "applied phlebotinum" and "handwavium", but of which i think adequately describe what 90% of this season has been. virtually every weird, unexplained plot hole or unanswered question is seriously just Eskimo Girl Magic or Ennis Magic. it's so fricking weak. sure, season 1 blurred the lines between the natural and the supernatural, but there were (at least to my recollection) zero questions or mysteries that landed on a supernatural explanation - everything ultimately had a solution based in the real world.
