I said season 2 was better than the current season, which was more of an indictment of season 4 than it was an endorsement of season 2.
I really enjoyed 3. I think a lot is the nostalgia of knowing almost every location it was filmed in, combined with superb acting. The story, IMO, was overly dramatized considering it wasn't THAT big of a deal.
The one downside was the weak arse dad, who ended up being gay and offing himself, which was so forced and unnecessary.

cool? not sure that's the right word. mostly it's jsut been a fun thread shite talking. it's strange that you seem to have a problem with people shite talking about sub-par television show on a TV board, yet you are perfectly fine carrying on for multiple pages shite talking about those who enjoy shite talking about a show.
why do you care?

Really though this was going to be a good season after the first two episodes but it’s taken forever and so much going with the different characters. Really disappointed with how it’s finishing.

What I have gathered from his responses is that I would not and will not use his advice on making a decision about watching a movie, a series, a show, or maybe even a commercial
I have not seen Season 2 of True Detective and have no plans to do so, strictly based on what I have gathered from these threads. I appreciate not having to waste my time.
I watched Season 1 only after all the great reviews. I watched Season 3 on the initial showing just on a whim. Jodie Foster's involvement made me give this one the opening to get sucked in to the waste of time.
This thread has been more enjoyable than the show

I guess I’ll watch season 2
The giant shootout scene is wildly comically bad

same. i was actually decently into the show after one episode, still hopeful after two, but the third and fourth episodes kind of sealed its fate for me. i did think the fourth was better than the third. i also think that the fifth episode was one of the better ones of the season, but only as it pertains to the acting and cinematography. narratively, each episode just gets worse and contributes more to the absolute mess of this plot.

That’s how I feel as well, more disappointed than anything. After the first episode I thought it had real potential. I did think this past episode was a little better but overall it seems like it could have been a lot better.

This show clearly has a lot of explaining to do in the last hour, and I don’t see how that’s possible
Only way that I can see this plot tied together in one episode is Newhartesque.
The screen goes black at some point during the end of the final episode. Suddenly you hear and see a bedside light flick on. Rust sits up in bed rubs his eyes, and says "Wow, I just had the strangest dream".
This would also serve as a way to bring the next season back to Louisiana with Rust and Marty. Win, win.

Season 4 is like a dollar bin version of Mare of Easttown

For those wondering
So only have to wait 2 more days til we have new material to shred.

True Detective Season 4, Episode 6, “Part 6,” premieres on HBO and Max on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT. This is in keeping with the rest of Night Country‘s release schedule, except for Episode 5, which arrived on Max two days early to avoid going head-to-head with Super Bowl LVIII.
So only have to wait 2 more days til we have new material to shred.

Here is how I think the final will go:
They will get to the cave, and find out the mining company has been dumping toxic run off on some old forgotten indigenous burial ground. Annie K found it and was murdered there, but moved by Hank.
The toxic run off is causing the hallucinations.
Annie K's BF found her tongue, took it back to research station and was able to treat it w/ something to keep the memory of her alive or some BS like that.

According to IMDB those appearing in tonight’s finale that are potential suspects are: Blair- the cleaning lady, Connelly, Rose.
Those not on it - Kate- the mining co owner, Wheeler (the missing Salal scientist)

Thanks. You’re correct. Clark not on this episode either. Possibly deceased I’m assuming.
Anyone else a potential suspect?
I’m thinking Blair- if not a suspect- may have been the one who knew of Clark’s and Annie’s romance. Maybe even took the photo of them and possibly knows who is behind this.
Rose? She’s a mystery. Still parts of her past details that may play a part- if she’s even real.

Haha wouldn’t expect less from this season.
How many things are going to go unanswered?
Unless of course, they are leaving some names off on purpose.
