I'm REALLY curious what they say about episode 4, because it...did not improve things
The watch really tapped around the shittyness of the show
They must have the show runner scheduled on after the show wraps up and that’s why they aren’t being critical
Andy is such a smarmy podcaster.. he just drones on and on to hear himself talk.
They treated this with very light kid gloves

Oh and a circle back from earlier in this thread when someone asked if Danvers and Navarro had been lovers because Danvers asked "are the cans still in the same place" when she went to her house.
I think its obvious after the 3rd episode when in the evidence room and Navarro asks something like "is there anything you won't frick" and Danvers claps back with "are you still sleeping with women" or something like that.

Yeah I did listen when they finally posted it. Agree 100%. They're saying it's bad without being explicit.
It seems Andy knows Lopez personally.

It may have been discussed and I just missed it but does it seem to anybody else like Danvers and Navarro pull a Marty and Rust on the murderer they find in the house together. Danvers says they were dead when they got there but the flashbacks clearly show he was alive when they arrived. So a big reveal in this season could be a literal ripoff of season 1. What the hell.

I thought this was obvious, and was the point that made me finally ditch the show.

It's certainly heavily implied and made me legit mad when I thought about it.

Andy is married to the take that true detective season 1 sucked

I think I’m actually buying the theory that this script was originally an AI generation that Lopez made a few tweaks to in order to shoe horn in some S1 references.

I did not know this and, if I did, I forgot it.
I mean the ending was a letdown and cop out, but it's still great.

That’s not why he was out on it. It was more about the violence and masculinity

Jodie Foster is 61. Making her the town harlot is really strange.

Slim pickings up there.

Just watched E4 last night. Personally, it was a hell of a lot better than E2 and E3. Maybe it was because I wasn't watching it after a night of NFL playoff viewing and drinking, but it actually kept my attention for the entire episode.
Do I think it's a great quality series? Certainly not so far. But I do have a glimmer of hope after that episode.

Start the weekend on a low-note so it can only get better.

Although there are many problems I have somewhat enjoyed the show so far. The setting and the mystery have me pretty locked in. Season 1 had me on the edge of my seat every week and season 4 doesn't do that for me but it hasn't been as terrible as some are saying.

I guess my biggest question is why whoever the bigdawg at HBO is that made the executive decision to slap "True Detective" onto this would want to do so as it relates to their professional legacy? In the extreme short term I obviously get it....they know that the show they had was kind of a stinker and would fall flat so they put TD on front of it and boom, you've got millions more eyeballs than you would otherwise which looks great for the bottom line. BUT...now you've essentially tarnished the entire name of the franchise forever. You're going to be known as the guy that tanked a goldmine of a series. From now on forever people are going to give True Detective the same treatment as Indiana Jones, GOT, Dexter, etc. Whenever people start to talk about how insanely awesome of a franchise it is it'll instantly be met with "yeah, but..." as we then have to explain away what happened at the tail end.
Did you ot watch season 2?
True Detective is not immune to a bad season. I liked the cast of season 2 much much better, but even as of right now, pending the ending, I would watch this season over again before I would season 2. Which I tried to do two other times and couldn't get past the second episode. That's why i found it pretty funny that Pizolatto was on a high horse about tying into season one yet he forgets that he wrote an absolute stinker of a season.
