Definitely one of the overlooked aspects of the episode is how Rust is now no longer a cynical nihilist.
The only thing I didn't like about the finale is the Rust-as-Jesus thing at the end in the hospital.

Rust-as-Jesus got started before he ever got to the hospital.

I know Maggie didn't have a tie in to the cult but what was up w/ the creepy music when her and the girls walked up to the hospital bed?

they were insane

either Nic was just fricking with the audience, or they were involved but never truly revealed

Sure, I'm talking about the visual. It was cheesy and overselling what is at that point a cliche.

99% sure just fricking with the audience

because it was about the mystery, until it wasnt.

O.k. Then explain how Dora Lange and gayboy and other Light of the Way/Courir de Mardi Gras kids were obvious victims of the cult sexual abuse as kids but don't get killed? Dora Lange only gets killed much later on after "meeting a king" meaning she did not know or recognize Errol from earlier in life (not recognizing him would have been pretty difficult).
Did the Tuttle cult only start killing people once Errol cam of age? I can't remember any body of any kid ever being found until Errol's place.
you are right. There are gigantic obvious plot holes in this story because of this ending.
Had they ended this the right way, we could enjoy this show on multiple viewings (picking up bits of information).

It was Fort Macomb.

Sorry, what're the plot holes here? Does every single person who is victimized by the cult have to be victimized in the same way?
Errol is simply a spin-off from whatever it was the rich folks were up to in the past. It seems pretty clear that the old cult hasn't been active for some time, and Errol is the continuation of its religion.

As someone who has been in a coma before, I would disagree. You most certainly perceive and respond to external stimuli in different manners. And it is more than a pure behavioral response.

i think the fundamental error Nic P made was giving us the intriguing mystery involving cults, government level cover ups, multi generation serial killers and voodoo when all he wanted to do was tell the story of the relationship between 2 very different guys. Everybody got so wrapped up in trying to solve the mystery, that the ending left many unsatisfied. Nic P should have either a. left out all the cult and cover up shite, and just made it a straight forward murder investigation or b. planned on having this story span multiple seasons and many more episodes.
like i said earlier, he essentially cannibalized his own story(rust and martys relationship) by creating something more interesting(the cult and murders).

This was fertile hunting grounds for SFP to antagonize, wildly popular show set in Louisiana. If anything this was the perfect topic for him to shite on. I firmly believe he believes only about half of what he puts on here, either that or Nick P fricked his sister back in his LC days.
Lol @ the idiots who take that guy seriously. Who cares if he is a douchey troll...this is the internet, there will always be THAT GUY who shits on everything.

so maybe i downplayed the national reception, but it doesn't hurt my argument because it was a good show and worthy of some praise. I simply think that the board reception of the show was/is bias.
I totally disagree , most people on this website look for reasons to complain about Louisiana ......
Just ask everyone what they think about swamp people or the big easy ......

i liked this show a lot, better than boardwalk empire and better than the last 2 seasons of homeland. i just feel that it had potential to be better.
