no it's not. this story could have taken place anywhere in america. you wont find many places that have a complete lack of religious white trash and powerful and corrupt politicians.

guys save me the hours of reading through 56 pages and please tell me WTF carcosa is?
In last night's episode, it was the maze in which Errol was hiding and where he killed the kids.

one major question id like answered, who exactly killed billy lee tuttle? no way it was erroll.....

O.k. Then explain how Dora Lange and gayboy and other Light of the Way/Courir de Mardi Gras kids were obvious victims of the cult sexual abuse as kids but don't get killed?
The "cult" was molesting kids at the Tuttle schools. The Tuttle church actively covered it up as evidenced by the preacher talking about finding the pictures of kids. The gay guy says the he remembers the man with the scars on his face in that group of people that were molesting. So Errol was part of the group that was molesting kids and part of the group seen in the ritualistic Marie Fontenot video.
quote:
Did the Tuttle cult only start killing people once Errol cam of age? I can't remember any body of any kid ever being found until Errol's place.
We don't know why some were killed and others weren't. But the Tuttles/Childress' did know about the murders and covered them up.
The break came from discovering the Childress company that was painting houses and schools. Houses and schools all along the coast where kids had been disappering. The same Childresses that had a Sheriff in the town covering up the disappearance of Mary Fontenot and half brother to the Tuttle who had the Mary Fontenot video along with several other pictures.

Easiest explanation is that he really did kill himself.

had no relationship to the killings other than the fact that Errol, who was doing the killings, was formerly a victim.
Do you even Tuttle??

so because people think it's cool that they recognize a location, obviously that is the reason why they hyped it up?
I just don't follow your logic because to me, the location meant absolutely nothing
Obviously the reason the Wire was so well received is because people in Baltimore knew where Hamsterdam was.

and the characters and story would be different. my point was that louisiana and bayou culture impacts true detective a lot more than it does true blood. sure true detective could have been re written to take place in west virginia, but the cajun and voodoo elements would be removed.

so maybe i downplayed the national reception, but it doesn't hurt my argument because it was a good show and worthy of some praise.
I simply think that the board reception of the show was/is bias.

and i respect your opinion of the show. You were one of the posters in the thread i linked saying "let the show finish before i judge it"

Just finished watching the finale. I thought it was amazing and fricking great. Question: What did Rust say at the end after he told Marty he had it wrong about the sky thing? Sounds like he said: It wasn't always dark; the lights just went out.

The meth cook storyline, the biker gang infiltration, the sheriff on the boat storylines were dead ends.
i dont understand how someone can say that
This one is easy to explain. tiger2012 is not at sfp's level when it comes to trolling.

I liked the ending for everything except the tornado hocus plus sail over Rust.
I hate sci-fi and this was really stupid.
By the way, Matthew McConnehey sez he is done with the series and will not return for Season 2...his response at the Oscars was essentially NFW. Now with Oscar and certain Emmy, his price just went up big time...maybe tops in Hollywood. I cannot put my finger on what but his last two performances showed a different side to him. He made the series.

Alright. I enjoyed the ending but it still left me with some unanswered questions I though would be revealed. Could someone please summarize without me having to thumb through 60 pages and probably still not find out:
1) How did some psycho inbred back in a swamp have so many political/law connections?
2) Why did so many of the ring always accuse Rust of being/involved the yellow king, carcosa, etc.
3) If Marty's kids were not involved then why did they have some pics and the doll scene?
I probably should not have watched half of the episodes drunk.

how so? maybe i missed the voodoo references but it didnt seem to be a big part of the show to me. Rust's character was shaped by his time as an undercover in another state. I dont see how the state of Louisiana affected Rust's character at all. As for Marty, he was just a cop who drinks a lot and cheats on his wife. I dont see how Louisiana shaped his character at all either.
What were the cajun elements of the show other than some of the accents? Are the weird wooden figures a cajun thing?

SFP=has no clue what is going on and constantly rakes at how it was going to and did end.
This was fertile hunting grounds for SFP to antagonize, wildly popular show set in Louisiana. If anything this was the perfect topic for him to shite on. I firmly believe he believes only about half of what he puts on here, either that or Nick P fricked his sister back in his LC days.

Definitely one of the overlooked aspects of the episode is how Rust is now no longer a cynical nihilist.
