We get it. But it doesn't change the fact that it was filmed here. You can't argue because it was filmed here. I don't see why you need to continue to drive this point.

People who have ruined the TD threads in order of annoyance

1. SFP=has no clue what is going on and constantly rakes at how it was going to and did end.
2.Decauter=what shirt was Rust wearing when he took out the trash while walking to the bar
3.Displaced=we only like it because it was in south la.

you think this board hyped it because it was set in south LA and people here noticed some of the filming locations

yet for some reason ignore the same level of hype of the national scale

Why doesn't this board praise Treme' or True Blood?

i"ve never seen treme so i can't comment on that, but the difference between true detective and true blood with regards to location/setting is huge. True blood can take place anywhere, it doesn't change the story. The bayou and it's culture are paramount to the story of true detective.

O.k. Then explain how Dora Lange and gayboy and other Light of the Way/Courir de Mardi Gras kids were obvious victims of the cult sexual abuse as kids but don't get killed? Dora Lange only gets killed much later on after "meeting a king" meaning she did not know or recognize Errol from earlier in life (not recognizing him would have been pretty difficult).

Did the Tuttle cult only start killing people once Errol cam of age? I can't remember any body of any kid ever being found until Errol's place.

But if this show received so much hype on this board because of it's location, doesn't it stand to reason that the other 2 shows would be hyped here as well?

Yeah, why are people acting like it's unusual that the rich and powerful get away with criminality?

the story of TD could have taken place in any rural area controlled by a few powerful families

were there season long true blood threads before it entered it's 10th or whatever season? (i just searched, there are a lot of True Blood threads).

but that does not take away from the fact that it takes a pretty strong show to develop that following that the overhype can be placed on. I never watched Treme, but that may not have been the case there.

the national media doesn't analyze every location used or the reference to LSU and SLU baseball.

like i said i can't comment on treme, but true blood uses like 4 different locations. True detective is set all through out southern louisiana.

maybe, i didn't hear anything about this from national outlets early on. Maybe that proves my point by itself.

It's not their fault. We have been conditioned to have our drama spoon-fed to us in a neat, self-contained, 44 minute package.

For me, the setting was actually a negative. That's because you can more easily notice when they get lazy and fall into stereotyping. I can't even watch Treme. (I'm not saying Treme is bad, only that I never felt compelled to watch an episode) I only started watching this one after the early buzz and because McConaughey is on such a roll. I will definitely be watching season 2.

so because people think it's cool that they recognize a location, obviously that is the reason why they hyped it up?

I just don't follow your logic because to me, the location meant absolutely nothing
