TPM is still the biggest let down. Without the Duel of the Fates at the end no one would have given a crap about Jar Jar Binks and Little Annie.

The entire Palpatine story was absurd and lazy as all hell. Rey a Palpatine lolololol.

This boards absolute hatred for TLJ is where I am on ROS.

Saying ROS is worse than TLJ is like saying a baby who was beaten with a hammer while still in the womb is uglier than it’s older sibling who wasn’t beaten with a hammer.

It’s not fair. ROS is a product of TLJ. Of course it was destined to suck, it literally was fricked from the beginning.

You don't seem to understand. I am not defending this movie. Still, it's WAY better than TLJ. TLJ is not rewatchable, at all. Like not once. TROS will be rewatched by fans eleventy billion times more.

TLJ is the worst, by every measure. It broke Star Wars and Star Wars fandom.

AotC is the second worst

Holiday special is third

then RotS.

I'll defend it. If you don't deeply analyze the plot and roll with the movie, it's a fun movie and the characters are consistent with the ones we liked.

Attack of the Clones forces a terribly done love story on you for half the time and has no memorable action. AOTC and TLJ both change characters you love and show them doing things you never wanted to see.

I'll be able to rewatch ROS without being bored to tears or skipping scenes to preserve other movies.

I had no problem with Luke breaking down and fleeing.

Dude's dad went crazy and then he lost his nephew, its something that would of happened to a lot of people. He couldn't handle what happened.

I still thought it was cool him showing up at the end of TLJ.

Believe me I know Im in the minority here but the shite people freaked out on from TLJ did not bother me and Im a massive Star Wars fan.

Maybe so, but at least a third of the plot wasn't completely irrelevant

You have to realize TLJ was so bad that 1/3 of ROS had to be spent undoing all the damage TLJ did. Then JJ only had 2/3s of a movie to tell a whole story. It was by no means great, but it salvaged the Skywalker Saga as best it could considering the shitstorm created by TLJ.

If TLJ had not killed many of the plot points set up in TPM in the most unsatisfying and logic defying ways imaginable... we might have had a great episode Ix.

The rebellion had learned the location of the Sith planet for about 2 minutes and they knew all about the atmospheric conditions there, knew that the Star Destroyer fleet was parked within the atmosphere, knew that a beacon was required to guide the fleet out of the atmosphere, knew that their pilots would be able to fly within the atmosphere (without a beacon guiding them!) and locate and identify the enemy beacon to destroy it.

Pretty amazing stuff.

And again, the way the dagger was used was ripped off from The Goonies.

This movie definitely will not age well, however, as time removes it from the low bar it was initially viewed against

If you watch it and it makes money, you are lowering the bar.

the key to understanding Star Wars is that its primary target audience is kids. If you aren't a kid, you are thinking too hard or maybe not thinking at all.

Are you arguing that we should let our kids consume sh*t? I mean, some kids get to go to private schools like the Harry Potter universe and others have to eat scraps, I suppose.

The Fast and Furious franchise is pushing 10 movies. Star Wars isn't close to the movie franchise that's lowering the bar on movie quality.

How many Transformers movies are there?

Personally, I don't think anything will be worse for me than Attack of the Clones - but it gave us The Clone Wars animated series, so I give it a bit of a pass.

I finally watched TROS last night. TROS is by far not the best Star Wars movie, but TLJ was like the Dukes of Hazard when they replaced Bo & Luke. TROS was like when they brought Bo & Luke back: too little, too late.

TROS had the better story (which isn't saying much), had actual character development (again, not saying much) and chubby Asian chick who cant act was sidelined (HUGE benefit!).

Here's my problems with TROS:

1. Why the frick are you going to attack a tower from the ground when you have a bajillion ships in the air right above it? For frick's sake, Po had a damned lock on it! Just shoot it!

2. Why the frick are you going to land on a Destroyer to attack one of their towers when you have a bajillion ships in the air all around it?

3. They completely shite on the awesome might of the Deathstar by making Destroyers capable of taking out whole planets.

4. The only bad FX I noticed was the planet that blew up. It looked like someone lit off a pipe bomb inside an egg. Lucas did better FX when the Deathstar blew up in the original movie. And that was the 70's!

5. Ren was blowing through her obstacle course, using The Force to enhance her abilities. So why didn't she use it when she was climbing around the ruins of the Deathstar?

6. Luke's X-Wing had been underwater for decades but it still works fine?

7. The ship in the desert was there for decades but it still has power?

8. Kylo Ben should have been more emotional at the end before saving her, saying something like "NO!! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ME! I WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE!!", rage for a bit then realize he could save her by giving her his life. After she returns to life, they kiss, she looks at him questioningly as they part, he smiles, as he touches her face he says "it's supposed to be me" then flops down and dies.

Even with all that said, it was still better than the tour d' shitcicle factory TLJ was.

Force inconsistency bothers me a bit. I mean, he can freeze people and even blaster blasts, but has to fight conventionally later? Just freeze erryone and cut them in half.
