For me it wasn't so much the humor, but the placement of it. I mean Johnson injected it at literally the worst possible moments he could.
I go in to a scene thinking it's going to be powerful and really hit you in the feels....and then out comes the gag joke that just absolutely ruins the whole goddamn scene.

Yep, I’m one of those.
I thought it was just a bunch of bitching and whining by people that like to tear stuff down.
Then I saw the movie and realized that Disney and the writer director were the ones that tore it down and the people bitching were doing so because they hated to see what had been done to an iconic franchise.

This movie is terrible .
When I got out of the theater I started bargaining in my head with some things I liked, and between each of those thoughts was “You thought this about Man of Steel coming out of the theaters, just stop” or “Deep down you know this movie is shite”. Took me a few hours, and then I just sat in disbelief finally.
The initial denial will eventually give way to stone cold reality.

It's completely polarizing for me. The Rey/Ren story, and Luke's scenes, I thought were excellent.
But that abomination that was the ship chase scenes B plot, and Finn/Rose especially, makes me sick just thinking about. Absolutely HORRID.

A shockingly good piece by Vox (a typically Leftist publication) on why people hate this movie. They civilly disagree that many of these are problems in the movie, but they at least see why people loathe this movie and aren’t members of the Alt-Right like other publications are claiming: LINK
