Magnolia- Thought I was watching a masterpiece and then the frogs happened with an ending that didn't fulfill the promise of the opening montage.

There Will Be Blood-I thought it was over the top silliness.

The Birds...I'm a huge Hitchcock fan and loved the Birds, but the end was a little lacking.

I wish Hitchcock had gone with Evan Hunter's original ending.

Hancock was awful in the last half of the film, I see the movie as a 2 act movie, so yeah..

i don't remember this either but it's been years. i thought you were talking about the alien ship rising to the surface which was pretty cool back then.

I don't remember a huge foam rubber alien in the Abyss either.

I would agree with The Men who stare at Goats and I am Legend.

i find that all mel brooks movies are like this. They start out great, then by the final act they are just annoying.

Blazing saddles and history of the world pop to mind as particularly bad.

Agreed. The story would have been really great if it was just about the fallen reverend and his loss of faith, kidnapped by criminals, and refinding his faith. The minute the vampires showed up the movie shite the bed. (with the exception of Salma Hayecks breasts that is)

The Outlaw Josey Wales. The third act, just doesn't seem to fit.

This doesn't qualify, but the ending to THE SEARCHERS was a travesty to a film that still remains one of the greatest westerns in history. Won't call it a "nosedive" though.

This was the first and most recent to come to mind. Promising first act and just kind of dwindled away.

I remember really liking the first 2/3 of "White Noise" with Michael Keaton. Creepy, interesting, entertaining. And then the ending just goes off the rails.

I recently watched Bridesmaids. I actually thought the first half was pretty funny, then took a horrible nose dive.

"The Beach" without a doubt. Great movie until the last 30 minutes.

Also Gangs of New York faltered towards the end. Still a good movie though.
