I'll defend Brokeback not out of spite but because its actually a very good movie.

I agree with Leauxgan and Baloo. It is a well-made film that generally hit its mark. It has some pretty stunning camera work and great performances.

I wonder if most of the people criticizing it on this board have even seen it. I think it's part of the movie board's homophobia (the Watchmen threads were pretty entertaining)

missed these. let me guess, people hated the movie because of too much blue dick? i didnt notice the blue dick until my friend said, "hey, check out his blue dick"

Your list is pretty terrible. No one thinks that Signs and Cars are great films.

Seeing as blockbusters and award-winners have already been listed, I'll go with movies that college-aged people claim are great, but I always hated(these are movies that pseudo-intellectuals love):

1) Garden State
2) Donnie Darko
3) Eternal Sunshine
4) Juno
5) Little Miss Sunshine

All pretentious pieces of shite.

Oh,yeah, and the most overrated of the decade belongs to The Dark Knight. No Ledgers death, and that movie just comes in second to Iron Man that year.

I think a large portion of people's dislike of Brokeback is entirely tied to homophobia.

I liked the bottom four better than The Hangover. But Grandma's Boy?

All three are perfectly enjoyable movies. They got maybe more than their fair share of praise but they are not "pretentious pieces of shite" either.

Me either. I think it is very overrated. The Dark Knight was a vastly superior film.

I'm not saying it is a "bad" film, just that it is overrated. Isn't that the topic of this thread. I simply don't think it was worthy of all the lavish praise it received from critics, that's all. No homophobia intended...

I am far from a movie snob, I can like a blow up shite movie or a Brokeback kinda flick.

I am surprised TWBB was on your list. I enjoy it very much, along with Old Country. Two of my favs.

Most Overrated from my seat:

Tropic Thunder- Ive tried and tried- it just sucks

Slumdog Millionaire- All that hype for that? snoozer

The Pianist- pass

Crash- Seriously over the top racist crap. I live in NOLA, possibly the most racially tinged city in America and have never met anyone like these people

Babel- total crap

While we're at it: Most under-rated

Lost in Translation

Collateral

Requiem for a Dream

American Psycho

Best in Show

i wish it were a requirement for all the Movie board snobs to state their top 10 movies in every post that they criticize other movies

that said i also don't care about how over or under rated any movie is as much as everyone else on here does, i watch a movie for the entertainment value not to critique it to the fullest extent as if i were getting paid to do so..
