Once Upon a Time
Good, Bad, Ugly
Unforgiven
Ask me on another day and I might throw in True Grit remake or The Proposition
But under no circumstances will I ever mention Tombstone. It’s #1 as my pick for the most overrated western ever. It’s like watching a bunch of high school theater boys play their costumes instead of their characters.
It seems amateurish, cartoonish, and campy. It’s for kids. Kind of like milk chocolate and Canadian Whiskey.

You didn't have to exclude Tombstone for me, it wouldn't make my top 25 westerns.

Unforgiven (GOAT western)
Assassination of Jesse James
How the West was won
Tombstone would be somewhere between 5-10

Don't know if it is top 3, but Wyatt Earp is a good one. So many people want to compare it to Tombstone, but they are entirely different movies. Tombstone is pure Hollywood flash. Wyatt Earp is epic historical drama. The women aren't all beautiful and the action is rough instead of flashy.
Staying on the same note, Dances with Wolves has to be up there as well.

Once Upon a Time in the West
Grew up a huge fan of Eastwood westerns but somehow never watched Once Upon A Time, tried to watch it the other day and it just didn't grab me.
Anywho, My Answers:
Unforgiven
Josey Wales
High Plains Drifter
Honorable Mentions to:
Open Range
Butch & Sundance
Magnificent Seven (original)
Guilty Pleasures:
Django Unchained
3:10 To Yuma (Bale)
Hell Or High Water (it counts)

Fwiw, most on here wouldn't have Tombstone in their top 3. It's very polarizing around here for some reason. I love it, but it gets weirdly hated on.
Once Upon a Time in the West
Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo
The Wild Bunch
Assassination of Jessie James being a toss up with The Wild Bunch.
Hot take, Unforgiven is extremely overrated.

James Garner was the shite back in the day.
Weekends and summers I watched ninety straight minutes of The Rifleman (with former Cincinnati Reds and Boston Celtics sharpshooter Chuck Conners) followed by an hour of Maverick (with Garner) every chance I got.
