John Carter is better than all of those other films combined. While the marketing was the biggest culprit in its downfall, the feeding frenzy of the press and moviegoers who couldn't wait to celebrate it as being a "bomb" (before any of them had seen it) is still keeping it from getting an audience (as seen in this thread).

Man, John Carter was done so dirty. That movie could have made gobs of money if marketed well.

What are you talking about? The Last Crusade was a box office hit.

It's funny that the only movie on that list that I feel really didn't deserve to be the financial disaster that it was is #1. John Carter was a good and entertaining movie.

24. Monster Trucks (2016) - Loss: $161M

The above are not that bad. The bolded ones are good to decent.

John Carter is a great family adventure movie. 13th Warrior is good.

The salt in the wound is this list coming out now, while Avatar is #1 at the Box Office. A franchise completely built on the premise of the John Carter of Mars books.

I know a woman who did stunts in this movie.

Also, fricking blasphemy. That movie is awesome.

Certainly makes you wonder where Taylor Kitch’s career would be had it not flopped too.

Monster Trucks is one of the most fun movies to watch with kids under the age of 10. It really is a solid action flick, funny, and has a clever plot device.

Not a masterpiece, but it's a good rainy afternoon, for sure.

The 13th Warrior is based on Michael Crighton's book The Eaters of the Dead, which is an adaptation of Beowulf. The director actually went on record saying that he wanted Michael Keaton instead of Antonio Banderas.

It's been over 25 years since it came out, and if it were on a tv while I was passing by...I would stop to watch it. It seems like people either loved it or hated it. I'm in the "loved it" group. It was far from perfect, but it's a good damn story, and I liked it.

They should rename & market John Carter and re-release it. It’s better than the vast majority of crap in theaters today. It’s like there’s pressure to just call it “not bad” due to its losses, but in reality it’s a damn good movie.

There is no way this is a real movie, right?

Ironically, they re-released it as a porno and made a ton

I'm a bit skeptical that it lost this much. Why would that very simple movie, set in a prison and courtroom, cost over 200 mil to make?
