Tons to talk about, so start talking.

You don't interact with kids enough right now. And for US, our nostalgia has taken over and we have a much bigger connection to Lion King than Sleeping Beauty (I would disagree INDIVIDUALLY for me, but for the generation I am a part of, it's true).

It's interesting how just a few years difference can shape one's perspective on things. For me Sleeping Beauty and the classic Disney movies will always have more nostalgia power cause I saw those in my formative years where as I was already into my teenage years when The Lion King came out.

So do the write ups start at 40?

And sorry about that, I've just had a hectic as hell life right now, and feel bad about saying I'd do a write up.

I work from home, so that's both good and bad. Good means I can usually do some things differently during the day, but that also means that I work longer days (and Fridays are light by choice in general). I have a ton of freedom as long as I get my work done.

I got it. I wouldn't mind something like that if I could get a good income from it, and it didn't force me to work like 12 hours a day or something 6 or 7 days a week. Also the schedule teachers have are nice as well. Both of my parents teach, so they work (if they don't work summers) 9 months out of the year. They have also both worked out their schedule I think to where they don't go in to work on Mondays and Fridays. (they both are college professors so they can get away with that) but many time they have work other than teaching class on those days.

Note: because of school I have yet to work a 8 to 4 job 5 or 6 days a week yet in my life, but it is something I would like to avoid if possible.

I really don't see anything getting over the Lion King in this board, and if I had to guess the only animated film left is WALL-E. Really shocked that more Miyazaki films made the list than Disney.

Snow White is top 100.

While I can appreciate it's place in film history, Snow White has aged horribly. Bland characters, decent animation by today's standard, and just a cliche plot. And there's not a chance that makes the Top 100 of this crowd.

Ones that stand out to me:

79. There Will Be Blood
Too low.

52. Casino
Way too high. I have no idea why people like this movie so much.

You have a point.

People don't realize how important that movie was.

I count this as a victory.

I do agree with you on this. I'm not sure this is even one Scorsese's top 10 films. Quick, unordered, and off the top of my head:

Raging Bull
GoodFellas
Mean streets
Taxi Driver
Bringing Out the Dead
Last Temptation of Christ
King of Comedy
Cape Fear
Gangs of NY
The Departed

Yeah, I'd probably have it outside my top 10. I'm just not a huge fan of Casino except for when Joe Pesci pops the guys eyeball out by sticking his head in the vice.

My guess would be that they rub against Seven Samurai too much. Meaning that people will definitely rank Seven Samurai (how high is it??), then if they like lighter Kurosawa fare, they ranked Hidden Fortress. If they like high art, they ranked Throne of Blood. Ran and Kagemusha are more traditional samurai films, and naturally, they just came in second.

Refer to the title of this project. I'm not sure for SOME people how important importance was.

Ninth Set:

Spielberg makes a huge leap with multiple films in the Top 40. Raiders, Jurassic Park and SPR all making an appearance. Kubrick lands another two as well, and the 90's prove again that they are a great decade a film. 7 of these 20 films coming from the decade.

Gone With the Wind and It's a Wonderful Life also tumble from the last list significantly.

Top 20 Upcoming.

I like Die Hard and Braveheart, but I think that it's crazy that they got ranked as high as they did.

Die Hard is probably a little low imo. Braveheart is way too high.
