Riggs honestly wasn't that bad. The problem is that he aged too fast to follow the comics arcs. Frankly, he was just too old for the Negan/Carl relationship that was so great in the comics. As such, it seems like killing him off and replacing him with Judith can recapture some of the comics storylines.
