My guess is that Saul found out that Kim has been arrested (or is in some kind of trouble) while using the pay phone. His last big scheme basically has him playing the Walter White role in trying to raise funds to either bail out Kim or to leave them through an intermediary, after he works out a deal tot get Kim out by turning himself in.

I’m going to be very disappointed if the last two episodes are just Gene pulling off jobs

I don’t think it goes down that way but certainly a plausible conjecture.

Hard to imagine Kim being arrested unless she helped him launder money….or came clean about the Howard scheme. Whatever happened it made Gene turn to Saul.
It was most likely her rejecting him again….she turned Jimmy into Saul. And is now turning Gene into Saul.
Also, seeing Walt, Jesse, and Mike in the old office brought me back to BB and just how amazing that show was week to week. Pure intensity.
Finally…shoutout to laser tag. He was sad to hear about it.

Maybe “ Cinnabon Gene” is in greyscale because he is dead and this is all just a dream……

there are a few reasons he could be mad:
A: Kim is remarried/changed her last name
B: Kim is in trouble with the law
C: Kim's boss/receptionsit was being a prick
D: Kim's phone is wiretapped and she calls him Jimmy?
E: Kim shits on Jimmy for how he acted during the Breaking Bad Timeline
F: some other shite I am too dumb to think about

That could very well be. Gene slams the phone down immediately. Much too soon for it to be the result of any convo with Kim or anyone.
Could be the receptionist or whoever replied, “We don’t have a Kim Wexler. We have a Kim Patterson” and that set Gene off.

Francesca phone call where she mentions Kim.
I just rewatched and it absolutely seems like Kim hasn't been in touch in years. If Ham would take his J+K=S glasses off, he would totally see it too.
It seems like Francesca didn't even want to tell Saul. She mentions it like she was surprised Kim would even remember her or care to check in. Another thought - would the feds make a deal with Francesca to set a trap for Saul? Did she say that knowing he would make the call & the feds would pick up instead of Kim?

The Bluetooth is back. The swing machine is back. Hookers are back. They beat us over the head with the BB flashbacks featuring the same things. Saul is back and Saul is going to crash again.
Such great cinematography. The closeup where he’s in the strip club and removes his glasses to look at the dancers?
Even with the corny mustache, thats not Gene, that’s full-on Saul Goodman.

Cancer guy is a trigger that starts the demise of Gene and provides closure for his storyline. Walt’s cancer started Saul’s demise. Walt’s cancer then became the trigger when Slipping Jimmy encountered cancer guy in an encounter that will lead to Gene’s demise.
& The episode is titled "breaking bad". Saul is done for & there is no turning back. Whatever hope he had with Kim was shattered with that phone call.

Gene works at a Cinnabon.
Kim works at a sprinkler company.
You folks are missing what the writers are laying down.
OK< now I'm certain you're just trolling.
Either that, or the biggest fricking retard in Arkansas.
They way Saul asked about Kim made it completely clear that they had not been in contact since she left him. That was the emotional voice of a man who is shocked and shaken by the news that the woman he loves, who he has given up all hope on ever seeing, asked about him.
Talk about "nuance", THAT, little piggy, is nuance.

It's pretty obvious at this point that these last 2 episodes are basically the same thing as the 3 episodes between Rock and Hard Place and Plan and Execution which went unappreciated at the time and were called filler. They are building to something big, but it's not as interesting to watch right now when you can't just binge the rest of the episodes.

Seriously, watch that phone call again.
Clear your mind of our disagreements and watch open minded.
Francesca clearly has feelings for Kim. Her emotions don't make sense with a 4 year gap
Taken DIRECTLY from the scene dialogue:
S - K... I guess that's it then. (after they've talked about EVERYONE ELSE from the Saul days)
F - I did get one call...after everything went down. (So, WAY back when the shite hit the fan), Kim, checking in on me.
S - No kidding? (looking very surprised and pensive)
F - Your name came up, asked if you were alive.
S - She asked about me? (a tremble of hope in his voice and mannerisms)....What did you tell her?
F - Nothing
S - But she asked
F - Yep
S - Well.... OK well... I guess this is goodbye... hello? hello?
Scene
That conversation more than anything else so far destroys your theory that Kim has been pulling strings in the background the whole time, including the Gene timeline.
You should really see a therapist or doctor or something.

Well, not that far back.. I think it's only been 6-7 months since he was vacuumed to Omaha. I'm assuming that is what she is referring to with "after everything went down".

Also, I'm pretty sure that gas station Franchesca was at is the same one Jesse stopped in with the RV to trade Meth for Fuel
I am glad someone finally commented on this.
Business is closed and property dilapidated, just how the rest of the BB world is in ruins. However, payphones still look pristine and in working order. I would have thought the phone company would have pulled the phones or they would have been vandalized.

First, Jesse looked old and acted old. His voice old. Like really old in that scene
It almost felt like that was a completely different actor

Out in the middle of nowhere, its a low priority, low risk asset. They just pulled the last pay phones in NYC earlier this year. Its believable for them to still be there in 2010.

Let's say Kim and Jimmy haven't associated for 3-4 years.
Is it normal for her to refuse his call?
First, how do you even know that's what happened?
Second, if that is what happened, why is that so implausible that Kim, a person who up and left Saul to get away from him and that lifestyle, would refuse his call?

If Vince Gillian did an interview and said “Ham, you’re an idiot. Kim 100% wasn’t pulling strings behind the scene. Where did you get this crap?”
He would be like “clearly he gave that interview to throw us off the scent. But he was wearing a blue shirt… blue is the color of ice… as in Ice Station Zebra Associates. You can’t ignore Easter Eggs like that!”
