what was bad about Gabe? Everyone on the show made fun of him. he was easy to laugh at.

Gabe has a weird effect on people. On the initial watch, everyone hated him, as the show was airing.
Rewatching however everyone likes the character.

didn't care for Erin,
I loved her character. She is my favorite of the later seasons additions.

This might just be me, but his character on Silicon Valley has made me appreciate him more on The Office.

He ruined that entire moment when the office sang the goodbye song to Michael Scott.
I still loved the moment, but I agree with your point.
And then the end scene with him and the cake. It was just way too much Ferrell and WAY overdone.

I definitely liked him more on the rewatch.

He had some moments, but mostly he didn't fit for me. Like a worse Erin. Which is why them together was also bad.

If you are a Michael Scott fan, this is EASILY a top 5 episode. There are so many subtle things....it's perfect. The random 80s intense song played when he's working out and mopping the floor. He was supposed to do that to skate gracefully, but apparently it gave him the ability to hit a slap shot 200 mph Cherokee Jack tGOAT.
The random kid in the bar that Andy flips the coin to for the jukebox kills me for some reason followed up by doing the Scarn
It was the perfect Michael Scott movie.

There were a few of us here that loved Gabe from the jump. He was great at being awkward. One of my favorite quotes from the entire series is Darryl talking about Gabe to Andy:
quote:
Andy, look, all I know is, if I was a girl and I had to choose between a tall dude who loved Asia and a you-looking dude who loved sweaters and wearing sweaters, I’d choose you.

I wonder if that was because people had then watched Silicon Valley where he plays basically the same character but is presented as more of a protagonist and that softened people on him.

He could be a total douchebag on the Office.

I agree he and Erin were bad, but that made for funny moments sometimes. But Gabe talking shite to Andy is great, and him being this cinefile of really weird and strange horror movies is one of his layers that is awesome. All the weird shite in his room that Ryan was jealous of/impressed by. Him always trying to seem more powerful than he is. Etc.
I love his character.

My favorite Gabe moment was when he gave Erin the horror film to play at the Halloween party and it disgusted everyone.

My mind was blown when I did a rewatch and noticed that Robert's son was Bruce Wayne in Gotham

From the point where Andy becomes featured, it's tough to slog through them. I can only assume his role was expanded due to his "Hangover" success, because his character is just horrible and not funny at all. What amazes me is that the original cast of characters is one of the greatest in the history of TV comedy - such a wide array of unique characters. Yet pretty much every character they added after the originals was a total dud. Just miss after miss. I don't understand how this happened.

- The shooting from point blank range, especially in the opening scene of the episode
- Daryl leaning in so that Michael could very lightly hit him in the head with the painting
- Oscar blinking after Michael strangled him to death

My fave Gabe moment was when he was talking to Dwight in Tallahassee and he told Dwight he was the office toilet. Dwight told him there were plenty of other household appliances that he would have picked, an incinerator, a garbage disposal, but he choose the toilet. God Bless you Gabe. You’re An American classic.
