Just left the theater. Damn this was great. The scene where Sammie was playing the blues and it showed it transcending all genres and time was alone worth the price of admission.
Hailee was great in all of her scenes and Delroy Lindo was great too.

I especially loved the buildup with all of the main characters. It took a while but it really made me care for them. The vampires were great. I need to see this again in IMAX because the music was so damn good.

I feel like the movie covers a bunch of racial themes, chief among them being cultural appropriation. But white people aren’t the villains, the vampires and klansmen definitely are.

I didn’t see those themes either. I just saw that music is transcendental and attracts both good and evil. I didn’t see the vampires as “producers” come to take the profits. If so is the message then that black vampires at the end are altruistic?

Just saw it last night and my goodness was it incredible. Remmick was an awesome vampire and the movie was just a treat to watch. Highly recommend it.

The scene with all the vampires dancing to Irish folk music kicked arse.

That scene and when all three were singing Wild Mountain Thyme. Just beautiful music.

I've been jamming to the soundtrack all morning

I may be off base here. If I am feel free to correct me.

To me the main theme was the white man taking other cultures music with the promise of integration and peace that is actually a lie. Pretty much a big shot at disenfranchisement. The vampires promise peace and community in return for being allowed into the culture and a piece of the music. This includes African American blues music, and they even threw Irish music in there. So if this is correct than yes it is a shot at the white man. I’m not ignorant enough to deny the American South’s dark past, I’m just saying for anybody that dosent do “what man bad” movies this may not be for you.

Me personally, I thought it was smartly done and the music scenes were great. I think it’s being a bit overrated, though. I was hoping for a bit more towards the end like the mob that they robbed showing up or Sammie having a show down with the devil with his guitar. They should have let Sammie shine a little more. The mowing down of the Klan at the end kinda just seemed like fan service not that it wasn’t cool.

FWIW I thought Get Out was a masterpiece

How does that relate to Sinners?

Because both movies deal with racial themes

If you don’t understand the difference between white people and klansmen, not sure what anybody could say.

I saw where Josh Allen is taking some heat for Hailee's sex scenes. Are the scenes "steamy" enough to justify Josh taking heat on?

If I recall correctly, she was drooling because she was hungry. Remmick did the same thing before he attacked Mary.

So there were black klansmen?

So if a movie centered around 3 serial killers who happened to be white, you would say that movie is about white people?
