Entertaining through two episodes. That being said, the shite doesn’t make a lick of sense.
Am I the only one who didn't realize there were two different timelines going until the third episode? I must say I was confused, too, because Cintra had been burned to the ground and people in the show were still talking about it in the present tense as if it was still going strong.

You’re not really supposed to know. Until we see Geralt at the Cintra castle, there’s not really any reason to know that their is two different timelines
And even after that they don’t really explain what time line these stories take place, it’s not until the final episode you’re really able to piece together when these things actually happen.
Even when you look at episode to episode, we see Geralt meeting Yennifer for the first time and then the next episode they meet again and she reveals it’s been I believe 4 years since that encounter with the Djinn. That tells you that these are individual stories (based off of short stories from the book) that are all connected but not told in a linear sense

That's when I first realized there were two different timelines going on.

Yeah.
I did some reading after I finished the first season and apparently this season was based entirely on a series of short stories that take place before the novels. So the second season will be the official start of the main Witcher saga laid out in the novels.

I wonder if they will recast Ciri at some point?
Isn't Freya Allen (her actress) 20?

I hate to break it to you but The Witcher was a book series long before it was ever adapted into a video game.
1. I knew That.
2. You didn’t really seem to hate to break that to me.
3. I stand By the point. Cavill is doing the voice from the games.

18. But still...you're correct. There's no reason to re-cast the character because the actress who is playing her is already an adult.

I'm looking forward to the inevitable "training montage" episode where Geralt trains Ciri in the ways of the Witcher.
I wonder if Freya Allen will have to cut her hair short for season 2.
Also, anyone else like the fact that they had a different logo in each episode, then in the season finale they all merged to form the official logo?

I read where season one is an adaptation of the short stories that were part of the Sword of Destiny collection and that season two will begin to adapt the actual novels.
It is. 3 out of the 1st 4 "stories" are out of Sword of Destiny.

It’s because the timelines are separate. Ciri’s timeline is Geralt’s future. Geralt’s timeline is leading up to the events of episode 1.

The people who read the books and/or played the games had a bit of an advantage on the whole two timelines thing.
I think they would have been well served to have some sort of timestamp when they switched timelines, just for new people to the world.
That being said, I can appreciate not trying to spoon-feed info, and the short stories are exactly the same way in sword of destiny and the last wish.
My only real complaint with the first season (red hair aside), is that geralt didn't meet ciri in brokilon forest. It stole a lot of the emotional impact in the last episode for their meet up since they had never met before.
I understand the need to shorten things for narrative purposes, but I think they would have been well served to keep it the same as the books there.
Still, best book to film adaptation I've ever seen so far. Was super impressed all around.

This show is awesome!
Loving it so far.
The Yennefer storyline really interests me, and I’m curious where it goes after the end of the 2nd episode.

The movie Jobs is set in three different time periods. They use different film, and finally digital, to create unique looks for each period.
I didn’t love the movie, but I thought it was an interesting way of doing it.

For everyone confused about the references to "Dandelilon", the name of the bard, Jaskier, is the Polish word for "dandelion".
Posted on 12/22/19 at 4:34 pm to blueboy
So...... I need to read the books before starting these?
Posted on 12/22/19 at 4:45 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
Jaskier actually means buttercup in Polish. They just changed his name to Dandelion once they started doing English translations for the series. The Witcher name actually came from that as well, don't think it translates as that in Polish.
And I think changing the name to Dandelion was a good call, having him called Buttercup would have been pretty weird.

You don't have to read the books first to watch it. You should just realize when you are watching the series that there are two different timelines going on in every episode but the last one. As long as you know the Ciri timeline is current day for the series and the rest aren't it shouldn't be confusing.

I just saw an interview with Freya Allen and Anya Chalotra on YouTube.
The interviewer asked if there was anything that they wanted to do in Season 2 that they didn't get to in Season 1 and Allen immediately responded with "fight".
She either knows exactly what she's about to get into or has no clue.
