These people waste ammo like nobody’s business
I believe the writers have thrown in the towel and now they are writing in fantasy land . Things like, having enough ammo, food an water are no longer important to the story
They are growing those things on trees now. I know a lot of people like this series and I have enjoyed it to a certain extent but it is past time to end it

Oh, and Maggie not showing is retarded.
Yet Judith aged like 2 years... wtf?

Agree with most in the thread. Decent episode, but overall pretty lackluster for a season opener.
I have always enjoyed bitching about the wasting of ammo on the show but holy shite, last night takes the cake so far. Hundreds and hundreds (maybe even thousands?) of rounds shot outside the Sanctuary, and it was basically to shoot out the windows? Did anybody even get killed or wounded at all (serious question)?? Plus, I knew it would be a waste-fest when they all grouped together and shot several times into the air for (seemingly) no reason at all. Even as a signal, you could've gotten the same effect firing just a few guns. Ridiculous.
And yet again, all everybody wants to do is talk about killing each other. We got Rick telling Negan, now for the third time, that he's gonna kill him. We got Negan shouting basically the same shite to Rick, when in actuality, any smart person would have offed the other one literally the first chance they got. And Rick shoots what, a hundred rounds at him? So he clearly wants to kill him. So why not shoot immediately. And I'm not even talking about from a plot perspective...I get that he's the main villain and all that. So don't film it like that, or at least let him have some cover instead of just standing out in the complete open talking mad shite to people who all want him dead. I hated the shite Rosita pulled a while back when she tried to shoot him, but frick at this point she's literally the only person who's tried to end this thing.
Darryl flying around on his motorcycle, and the zombie horde stays right behind him the whole time.
Also, since when does fire make walkers travel in certain directions?
Maggie not showing was just weird. She even specifically mentions her second trimester, but they also made a point to show an aged Judith. It seems nitpicky I guess, but it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever and comes off as very lazy.
I really feel like this was a hastily (yet lazily) put-together episode. Not much about it made sense. The flashes (forward? back? sideways? dreams?) didn't make much sense. Rick's bloodshot eyes parts didn't make sense to me either. The walkers sprinting with motorcycle Darryl. Maggie's baby not aging, but Judith aging a ton. Etc. It just felt like it was very poorly planned out. And I caught some of the Talking Dead after show (which is awful, btw), and it seems like the creators (especially the gay looking dude that Chris Hardwick wants to make out with...Gimple I think?) is so fricking smug about himself and the show. I honestly feel like they don't even care sometimes and they know they can just throw some bullshite together and people will eat it up. The whole reason AMC has the Talking Dead show is to tell us how awesome the show is, when it shouldn't need that. At one point, the dude who plays Ezekial was like trying to hype up the crowd like it was a concert or something. I feel like it's more about the spectacle/being an event than the actual episode. And that's sad.
That being said, I still like the show. I just feel like I get disappointed with it more and more. Usually you can count on the opener and the finale to both be great, with maybe another awesome episode or two mixed into the season, then lots of bullshite filler. So this opener has me a little worried about the season. I hope I'm wrong though.

I wish they would stop with the time warps. It isn't needed and doesn't further the plot. And why did Rick turn into Aragorn from Lord of the rings? Was it supposed to show him in the future? I mean, he completely grey'd out and was losing his hair. His daughter aged about 3-4 years, yet Michonne and Carl did not. And then the bloodshot eyes... i'm assuming we're going to have an entire season of this little wormhole Rick is in.
Also, the entire episode i kept thinking "Just shoot Negan in the face". How hard is that? As soon as he walks out, BOOM! Smoke him in the head. You had snipers with silencers takeout the rooftop watch. Why not use them there? Why didn't rick just aim through that little space that was clearly an open shot on Negan?

what i really don't get is when rick is shooting at Negan and Gabriel comes over and says we have to go and dont make this about you. Isn't the whole point of this plan to get Negan and take him out? Why wouldn't those 2 just walk over to Negan and unload a couple of clips in him?
Posted on 10/23/17 at 8:40 am to BugAC
Exactly. The whole plot is just lazy and dumb

Agreed. And they do that shite all the time throughout the entire show. They always seem to try to make it super artsy and WAY more heavy/important than it actually is.

I didn't get that at all either. Killing Negan is exactly what this whole thing is about. Sure, there may be some elaborate plan in place to make that happen, but they were all there taking thousands of shots at him/them, so you could spare the extra 30 seconds to finish that job before you peace out.
But then again, this show is almost entirely based around stupid, irrational decisions.

It really was beyond stupid. When he rose up on the count of 7 and started shooting I was like "oh nice he finally killed him. Cold blooded just like it needed to be". Then we come back and just find out he was channeling his inner Hans Gruber with a "shoot ze glass" moment for......reasons?
So you took out all the guards along the way and at the sanctuary for a surprise "attack". When you get there you do what you feel is the right thing and offer safe passage to those that turn against Neegan. When that doesn't happen you kill literally nobody with your automatic weapons and armored convoy, but you instead lead a horde of zombies there and then just leave? Great plan. They basically showed all that training and prep for Rick to make a speech

Episode was pretty disappointing.
And OMGAH I would give ANYTHING for Maggie to die. She gets on my nerves so fricking bad.

And now negan is trapped in trailer with an armed gabriel and im supposed to accept that this is bad...for gabriel.

It really is so dumb.
Posted on 10/23/17 at 10:49 am to SabiDojo
It takes away from it because there are no consequences. Negan is fairly universally hated outside of his people (and even some of them hate him), and everyone wants him dead. But he walks around all out in the open, unprotected, and never gets anything really done to him. It's like he's invincible and knows it, which makes it a lot less fun.

So leaving the horde at Negan's place supposed to keep them occupied while Carol and her crew take out the other outposts?
Posted on 10/23/17 at 10:55 am to TrapperJohn
So that was Negan's headquarters that got busted up, yeah? Are all those workers who were under Negan's rule now dead?
Posted on 10/23/17 at 10:55 am to CocomoLSU
I can't get over Negan just standing there. Just blow that SOB away. He didn't have any cover. Easy kill.

That's sort of the vibe I got. Although they may not know where all of the outposts are, unless that is some of the info they are getting from Dwight.

And then Rick starts blasting and misses Negan entirely. What a joke.

Comic reader, all out war was the last of the decent storylines.
No spoilers here.
1) What they were trying to do with the flash forwards was show the difference between Rick and Maggie and Ezekial vs Negan.
They are for the future and more than themselves, Maggie and Zeke firmly in that while Rick blurs the line with his vendetta against Negan.
So the flash forwards and teary eyedness were his dream for his son, daughter, and wife and to show it's not just words from him.
2) Daryl's motorcycle is acceptable editing he's not going full bore all the time we're just watching the parts where he sets off the signals.
3) Did they run out of baby Judiths or do they just hate wrangling babies? That's really the only thing that bugged me.
They took some gambles with telling this, see if it pays off.

That's the RECON part of the list I believe.

Right but he would be setting out off those loud explosions for quite some time leading them to Negan and presumably he didn't start setting them off until the "fight" already broke out
