What were the final numbers for cost vs box/streaming?

I think 90% of people said it would lose a hundred million and a certain few said it was make it back after streaming

It was the 2nd most watched show on Disney+ last year.

Not sure how that translates to "making back" money.

The issue was the budget was too high

Did D+ gain subscribers to reflect its run? Doesn’t seem likely if they pulled the plug on it.

What Star Wars show was worse than The Acolyte?

Ahsoka
Book of Boba (Besides Mando Episodes)
Kenobi

Get the frick outta here, lol. I don't buy into the pure hatred The Acolyte gets, but it wasn't better than any of those, especially Ahsoka.

This earned it seventh place on Nielsen’s Top 10 originals chart in its premiere week with 488 million minutes viewed. It climbed one spot in the second week but then experienced a dramatic fall from grace as it exited the list. The clearest evidence that it wasn’t a commercial success came when Disney scrapped plans for a second season just over a month after the curtain came down on the first one.

It had a strong 1st 2 episode viewership, ranking 7th and 6th, respectively in their individual weeks

After that came the notorious episode 3, and viewership dropped faster than Jennifer Lawrence when Harvey Weinstein has a role to offer.

Boba Fett was not all bad. It wasn’t great, but the Tusken Raider stuff was cool.

It shite the bed with the mod kids and the lame battle at the end. Plus, they couldn’t help themselves with making Boba himself kind of weak-willed and letting his female sidekick be the real brains of the outfit.

But it wasn’t as stupid as Kenobi or the Acolyte.

Still gripes me how much Disney fricked up Daredevil. It went from the best Marvel show ever made to one big yawn. Disney needs to collapse.

How bad must Daredevil have been for Feige to basically make them do it over, after he screened it?

Boba Dett has some of the worst acting of any Star Wars product, including the Holiday Special

Top 3 Disney+ Shows of 2024 by Viewing Minutes
Percy Jackson and the Olympians : Over 3 billion minutes watched.
The Acolyte : Approximately 2.67 billion minutes watched.
Agatha All Along : Around 2.28 billion minutes watched

Agatha was around 2 hours shorter according to google, but that seems way off.

Figured it out. Agatha runtime was 3.5 hours total according to google AI.

Seems off though with 9 episodes compared to 8 for the Acolyte and similar runtimes.

Possible it’s because it’s calculated on the initial run, I’m not sure

I hearya on Kenobi. It’s issue are easily fixable and most of them were just laziness. Drop that god awful chase scene and delete almost that entire subplot with the DEInquistor that was added when the project went from a movie to a tv series and you have some great content.

The Acolyte was just straight dookie altogether. There is nothing about it to fix or adjust to make it worthwhile.

Sure, which is exactly why they cancelled it after one season.

You know how I know it wasn’t? Search for merchandise related to that show and see what, if anything you can find.

I’m not sold on the idea that the problem with the show was quality as much as it was Disney desire to spread 20 episodes over 2 10-episode seasons in separate years for streaming purposes.

Then again that was around the time everything was in flux with Jonathan Majors and the overall direction of the MCU.

The MCU was a success because the suits let Kevin Fiege be the HNIC of everything and all of the directors and writers for each project ran everything through him. He was the eye in the sky of everything telling everyone what they needed to do and what they couldn’t do while letting them make their own marks on their movies.

In 2020, Disney went all in on woke bullshite and Fiege had to run shite through a whole bunch of blue haired brigadiers and alphabet assholes and quality dipped - for some projects just a little, for others a whole lot. His bosses not being able to decide if certain projects should be movies or series further compounded the problem.
