Watched the first two episodes this morning. Its probably going to be a good show but a somewhat typical ER show

ER had at least a cinematic/drama feel so you could detach yourself.

This just felt like being in and out of a real hospital that happened with my Dad.

That is not entertainment, which we gravitate towards for escapism. Only watched one episode but I could tell it was not my tempo. Too sterile.

The intake person called him by his given name and he corrected her saying it was "Tasha" and it's "Miss". And the young intern mentioned that they system had him/her misgendered and she fixed it. But, it wasn't "in your face" like some shows do.

Totally. This is a more realistic interaction than some shows.

Finally the parents of the OD kid were given the truth and the finality he isn’t coming back

Was shocked the mom responded so poorly about organ donation. The kid already wanted to do it from his driver license and he’s 18

Also: sidenote. Who’s against organ donation ? Maybe some religious sects okay, but overall, the kid doesn’t need the organs anymore he has no brain function, it could save other lives. Organ donation is a no brainer for me. Selfish to not do it

I honestly don’t understand the appeal of hospital dramas.

Can somebody take a stab at explaining it to me?

Not really, but I do find it interesting. IRL I think hospitals are kind of fascinating as they're just hubs for all sorts of activity and emotions and stages of like 24/7. Like miniature cities. I can see how other people would be turned off by the concept though and wouldn't find it fun at all.

I really like the show subject to my prior caveats about it being eyeroll inducing (more of the same, the lawless criminals are white frat kids, the pro-life mom is a terrible person, etc.)

Hospitals are a location where, essentially, every human emotion coalesces and you can find the best and worst of humanity.

Anger, love, hatred, sorrow, anxiety, betrayal, etc.

People like drama and they especially love it when it can be intertwined with suffering, heroism, death, birth, etc.

Now, I can tell you some truths about hospitals though:

1. There isn’t a lot of sex in the hospital, even in residency. No one wants to be in the hospital when they aren’t working and hospitals are gross places. Why would you want to have sex there?

2. A lot of the shite that they overdramatized (shootings, kidnappings, assaults, etc.) does happen infrequently. I’ve seen shootings, assaults, and kidnappings, personally.

3. The medicine performed on these shows is often horrendously wrong. If anything is overdramatized, it’s that.

It’s three episodes in and it’s pretty hectic; it seems pretty legit to what I can tell

I've been in healthcare for 40 years. All my co-workers and healthcare friends love this show! So do I. I especially like the parts dealing with death. Families are always in denial. If you're in healthcare, you know the answer is always to let someone go peacefully, but families often just won't have it. The craziness is accurate. It's a controlled chaos.

Dr. Carter’s reference to his mentor who lived in Hawaii had to be a know to Dr. Mark Greene. I perked up when he said that. Still never got over Greene’s death

IKR!!! Mark Greene's Love's Labor Lost is still one of my very favorite episodes of network TV. That episode was so intense! I did last many years after Mark died. I loved the original cast so much!

Not shocked. Family members do all kinds of crazy things when they are in denial. I feel like Case Manager is one of the worst jobs on the face of the earth with all the family drama! I'm sure Mama will change her mind next episode, just like the old man's daughter finally did. That not wanting to let go and families doing to much to prolong life is a constant theme throughout healthcare. Nobody who is in healthcare wants life prolonged like that.

100% Everyone in patient care agree that hospitals are nasty. They change clothes and shower as soon as they get home!

2. A lot of the shite that they overdramatized (shootings, kidnappings, assaults, etc.) does happen infrequently. I’ve seen shootings, assaults, and kidnappings, personally.

It depends on the hospital. I've always worked with suburban and post acute hospitals. Family drama galore, but not shootings. My daughter works at Vandy Med Ctr and she's already had many incarerated patients, assaults, etc. She's a PT floater and just this week in trauma she had a guy that was shot 3 times. She says in the ED they are constantly calling out the traumas coming in just like in The Pitt.

3. The medicine performed on these shows is often horrendously wrong. If anything is overdramatized, it’s that.

The Pitt is a lot better than most.

Renewed for season 2 announced .

I really like this show .

Mel really connected with the autism guy

Santos is a giant bitch and it seems like she’s gonna try to accuse Langdon of stealing the Ativan

Bold strategy since she’s been there for 6 hours against a 3rd year resident .

Her attitude is definitely going to cause some type of problem. I thought it was going to be with the guy that fell off the ladder and his daughter but I was wrong about that.

The toughest episode so far

The little girl that drowned after she saved her sister. That was an ER level devastating revelation

Dr King is so good. I hope she switches to peds. She has a way with kids.

But this episode has wrecked me.

I had my fill of hospital dramas after the GOAT St. Elsewhere & ER. But I gave this a watch due to Noah Wyle, who is fantastic in it.

Just brutal drama.

My wife had this one last night before bed. That was a pretty fricked up reveal.
