Great, then we agree there can be a place for an R movie.

And I'm not arguing for star wars to be rated R, or against it to be rated R. I enjoyed it as it was and would have enjoyed it if they made it edgier. Just saying that rated R films absolutely generally make less than non rated R movies

Ok? When did I argue against that?

I never said you did. I said we agree.

1. You have no way of knowing that for sure.
Sure I do. Millions of parents will not bring kids to an R rated movie. That's pretty easy math.
quote:

2. By that logic, since you want to use Deadpool, would it have made more money as a pg movie?
Absolutely. Deadpool is the highest grossing R rated movie of all time, but doesn't even crack the overall top 50. It is $500 mil. behind total piece of shite Ironman 3 and $700 mil. behind Avengers: Age of Ultron. Kid friendly movies make a huge difference. Everyone knows this.

3. also by that logic, Disney must have made a poor business decision making rogue one not pg.
PG-13 is iffy, but it surely won't do as well as TFA, and by most accounts, it's a better movie.

Here's the top 100.

With the exception of Titanic, every one of the top 10 is a kid-friendly movie, and all of them are PG. R rated Deadpool comes in at #65.

eadpool would not. But Deadpool was the highest grossing rated R film ever and it won't even be the highest grossing movie of 2016

TBF, Deadpool was more profitable than all the other comic book films this year.

And that had more to do with keeping the tab on making the movie down

So then, why would anyone ever make an R movie?

Because they want to do things creatively that fall into that category.

Most R movies aren't big budget epics.

It's sad to know that this will most likely be the last we see Vader on the big screen. James Earl Jones is pushing 80. I wish they would make a stand alone on Vader in his prime hunting the last remaining Jedi while he was still alive. Instead we get a Han Solo movie no one wants.

I'm talking profit, not box office total. Deadpool was the most profitable CBM this year. Civil war cost over 200 million to make.

Deadpool cost $60 mil, so it's still $210 mil. in the hole.

Why did the Jedi make the first Jedi Temple on Achto instead of Jedha?

fwiw, I thought it was a great movie. They didn't shy away from CGI like TFA, but the special effects didn't come as a detriment to the film like in the prequels.

It certainly wasn't a character driven film. I didn't know anyone's name nor was I all that sad when they died.

Darth Vader sounded strange. it could be James Earl Jones' age, but I don't think so. They didn't get the audio effect quite right. He sounded perfect in Revenge of the Sith.

Because Yoda sneezed when everyone asked where to build

yes I know, but it was the effect that sounded more off than the softness of voice

i was thinking the same thing. his voice sounded muffled.

Overall i really enjoyed it, but i must say after reading the early reviews of some people who saw the premiere, slow down with comparing it to Empire
