It's a flawed movie, I don't think anyone is disputing that. For me, personally, the problem with Tarkin is he had to big of a role. Since it's all CGI, I would've shortened his screen time. Leia looked really bad.

Just saw it again. Better the second time.

For whatever reason, the CGI didn't seem as bad this time.

yep. Tarkin's huge presence made Krennic seem like a middle-management bitch and not some menace to be feared.

Tarkin was right under the Emperor though as far as authority is concerned. I don't think Krennic had ever personally met the Emperor or Vader before the events of the movie. Krennic was more like an Executive VP, who had to answer to the President who was Tarkin, while the Emperor was the CEO.

You guys complaining about the CGI on Leia: Did you see it in 3-D or standard definition?!?

I saw it in SD and the CGI looked legit. I don't think I'll see a 3-D movie in theaters again.

Same here. The tickets cost more and honestly i find the 3d takes away from the film. Not to mention nothing like dropping money on tickets for that to see your kids with the glasses off and your wife pissed because it is giving here a headache. I honestly didn't realize some of those people were CGI until this thread.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
- Donnie Yen's blind priest with a very rudimentary feel for the force was a nice touch.
- The last 5 minutes was perfect. Vader unleashed was immensely satisfying.
- Getting to see Death Star weapon as a mini toy with new CGI was...awesome
- No one getting out was awesome. You figured it was coming, but it's always refreshing to see a movie that isn't afraid to just gank every hero in the film.
- The K-2SO robot was well played comedic relief. It wasn't overly campy like C3PO. It really made his demise at the end a sad scene as he's getting raked down.

So many nerds who overthink so much they can't appreciate movies. It's sad really that dumb shite like being bugged by CGI Tarkin because "OMG FANBOI 4 LIFE" ruined a really well done Star Wars film for some. You need to put down the dirt sheets and the canon for a few minutes if you're getting a movie ruined by a CGI Imperial officer, who really wasn't bad at all to the casual observer.

I didn't like that they called him Governor Tarkin instead of Grand Moff. Treat the man with the respect he earned, since he was the first ever Grand Moff. If this truly was same timeline as "A New Hope" which the ending showed, then he'd be a Grand Moff, not just a sector governor.

I saw it in the new Dolby Cinema Atmos setup at Elmwood Palace and that was legit.

Well, didn't Leia refer to him as Governor Tarkin in ANH? Disney may have just been lazy and went with that

she also recognized his foul stench so maybe she was dogging him by calling him Gov? Who knows?

Grand Moffs are governors. The terms are synonymous. Tarkin is the governor/Moff over the Outer Rim.

I saw the movie in 3D and thought the CGI was very well done, didn't even think that would be a complaint among people.

So this film originally had the main characters living after the battle at Scarif, as Edwards simply assumed that Disney wouldn't allow him to kill off everyone.

Once Disney gave the team the green light, they started reworking the entire ending.

quote:

Edwards says the original script had the main characters survive, rather than die during the battle of Scarif — not because he wanted to keep them alive, but purely because he had assumed Disney wouldn’t let him kill them off.

quote:

Everyone read that and there was this feeling of like, ‘They’ve got to die, right?’ And everyone was like, ‘Yeah, can we?’” But with the famously family-friendly Disney in charge, Edwards originally looked for another, lighter, more survivable ending.

That was, until Disney gave him the green light to kill everyone. “We thought we weren’t going to be allowed to but Kathy [Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm] and everyone at Disney were like ‘Yeah it makes sense.

I guess they have to because they’re not in A New Hope,’” Edwards told Empire. From then on, he had his license to kill, and the survivor ending wasn’t even filmed
