Since the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929, only three films have won Best Picture without a corresponding nomination for Best Director: "Wings," which earned the equivalent of Best Picture at the first Oscar ceremony in 1929, "Grand Hotel" and "Driving Miss Daisy."

The thing Im mad about is Jennifer Lawrence winning over Jessica Chastain.

THAT was some bullshite. Chastain carried ZDT all by herself. Lawrence has a great cast around her

Argo will be one of the least talked about movie of the nominees 10 years from now.

Probably so. Argo was still a good movie even if it didn't deserve Best Picture.

As I've said before..

It will be the one of the least discussed movies of the nominees 10 years from now.

We'll be like...wait..Argo won best picture that year?

I never said it wasnt good.

I'm just tired of these "blah...yea its pretty good..but not very memorable" movies winning Best Picture.

We all KNOW we wont give a crap about them 10 years from now. It

just stop it. Chastain was great and so were the other nominees, but she didn't stand out anymore so than the rest of them. Lawrence is a deserving winner. if anything the little girl from Houma should have won if you ask me.

Argo's the kind of movie Oscar loves to honor: movies about how important and awesome movies are. The Academy Awards are the industry awards for the Hollywood studios. Hard to be outraged by its win.

But what do I know? I thought Looper was the best movie of the year.

Very apt.

Argo will be like Driving Miss Daisy...not a bad film...just a good film...but sort of meh...years later you will say...what was the big deal??

Out of Africa is like this too.

Like I said, the Oscars have been going with the least objectionable movie as Best Picture for awhile now.

No no I was just meaning this board is the right place to debate it. There has been probably 100 threads on what is the worst best picture winner.

at least an American movie won best picture again compared to the bullshite that won in the last two years. (The Artist and The King's Speech)

People will always bitch about who won.

Argo may not be that memorable in a few years but Slumdog Millionaire is less memorable than that.
