The next iteration of The Office is coming together.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the new take on the beloved NBC Steve Carell comedy has cast the first two members of what will be the ensemble comedy with Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) and Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) becoming the first two to join the cast of the potential series.

Reps for Universal Television, which is producing the updated take from creators Greg Daniels and Michael Korman (Nathan For You), declined comment as the details surrounding the project remain closely guarded. A platform for the project has not yet been determined as source say Daniels and the studio want to make sure the take is right before setting it up at a network/streamer. Peacock remains the exclusive streaming home for Daniels’ The Office after paying millions to secure the rights back from Netflix, where the show reached millions of new fans.

I just can't see this being any good. Not in today's climate.

So it will clearly be set overseas and not in America. That may have been announced already, I just figure because neither of those actors are Americans and I don't see Sabrina pulling off an American accent.

I saw White Lotus and was hoping it was this guy...

I like Domhnall Gleeson, so that’s interesting at least.

It's gonna have a half black cast, a woman Michael, gay people everywhere and will be a complete fricking disaster

The soft racism, sexism and gay jokes was such a key part of the show. I can't imagine being allowed to recreate that.

Yeah because no shows have anything like that anymore

Well is racism, sexism and gay jokes allowed in sitcoms nowadays? Michael Scott got away with alot of shite.

I mean there was quite a bit of diversity before.

Andy was a woman Michael.

gay people everywhere

There was also quite a bit of gayness before.

Highly likely.

Finding a lead as good as Carell will be the challenging part. The office fell hard after he left.

He's been very good in the movies I've seen him in. Especially Calvary where he played a serial killer opposite of his actual father (Brendan Gleeson) who played a priest. Amazing performance by Brendan Gleeson in Calvary, at least as good as In Bruges, and that was one of the best I've ever seen.

Anyway, Domhnall Gleeson is the only reason I think this new series might be OK. But I'm not optimistic.

Have you watched the Superfan episodes yet, they cut out a lot of raunchy stuff from the show. The editors saved Mindy Kaling and Larry Wilmore's careers.

And only one of those is a live action show. I wonder why?

Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus)

I was hoping for this.

What a beauty. Not Dadario level but close.
