Another unpopular opinion, but having a “name” actor in every single role is kind of distracting. I know it helps box office, and Nolan has the pull now to attract whoever he wants, but I miss the lesser known character actors in some of these roles.

He has pretty stacked casts in most of his movies (and re-uses the actors).

Why on Earth would they use a colloquial word like "dad" and not "father"?

I thought the trailer was solid outside of that one line

I thought it looked great but this instantly stood out to me. Very odd choice

That actually looks pretty good but the inevitable "reimagined for a modern audience" aspect of it will mean it will be annoying and mediocre at best.

They can’t help smelling their own farts.

Shocking casting decisions are a marketing tool.

Hopefully they cut that out of the movie

Bizarre no one was like "hey Chris, we should probably not say 'dad' in a movie based in ancient Greece/Mediterranean."

Obviously, Nolan's response is going to be: "they didn't speak modern English either and had a much smaller percentage of the amount of words we have now, so who cares"

It does feel odd though

There's never been anything remotely reliable to confirm that the Helen of Troy rumor was true by the way

agreed. that was just rumor and hearsay.

that being said, i'm against raceswapping clearly historical or described characters.

and THAT BEING SAID, Nyong'o is objectively attractive. Not a face that launched a thousand ships attractive, but still attractive.

I'm sorry but this looks like shite. Nothing about it feels grand or epic. Characters speaking in american accents with modern language, completely sterile color grading that's entirely devoid of color/contrast, out-of-place actors.

And Matt Damon yelling "Let's Goooooo" before the charge WTF were they thinking?

Yeah the dad line is a wtf. Took me out of the trailer

Huge Nolan fan, but this one might suck. It’s giving overbloated, bland straight to Netflix/Prime slop vibes. Also was that John Leguizamo? Another wtf casting choice

My first thought as well

Same here. I assume that Nolan had Pattinson and Holland speak with American accents because the rest of the cast couldn't adopt a passable British accent? What are they going to do with Mia Goth and Lupita Nyong'o? Even if a movie is crap, having British actors in it always seems to elevate it a bit. It's the accents. Since Pattinson is the villain, I'm a bit surprised he didn't keep his accent.
