I think the fights will probably be pretty cool to see in IMAX, but my gosh there are some really out of place things going on that look awful

Matt Damon is a great actor.
Jesus Christ, yall are miserable.
And, yes, they probably asked the Brits to do American accents because it made no damn sense for Odysseus’s son to have a British accent when Odysseus and his wife don’t, and Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson have done American accents *checks notes* in almost every movie they’ve ever been in.

He’s good in rolls where he can basically play himself.
Horrible choice for the lead in a movie like this.

Bingo. Note I didn't say he was a bad actor, just that he has very little range. There's plenty of actors that fit in that category that are still generally entertaining.
In the case of this movie I think Nolan got so obsessed with the shooting of the movie that he neglected the more important things like casting. This movie seems like some mix-match of a modern retelling of a classic tale, yet instead of being set modern day, it's still set in Ancient Greece.

The sets and landscapes look amazing and then they start talking lol.
Exactly! Having Tom Holland's character call Odysseus "dad" immediately took me out of the scene. I guess Nolan wants to update the classic story for "modern audiences", which usually never goes well.
Also, what's the deal with Anne Hathaway? She's in everything. She's become the female version of Pedro Pascal.

i was under the impression that Interstellar was her last movie. she "left" to raise her kid(s) or so from what i remember.
this was the only movie i was aware of her being in lately.

She was just in the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada. She was in some weird lesbian "horror" movie call Mother Mary. She's in The Odyssey and another movie called Verity, as well as The End of Oak Street, all of which have had trailers drop in the past month or so.

I'm sorry but this looks like shite.
Your wording is a little harsher than mine, but yeah, this doesn't look great. I know I'm prejudging this based on a couple of trailers. May or may not be accurate.
It looks like one of those things that had the actual Odyssey not existed and Nolan came up with this story himself, then it would probably be fine, but since it's based on something and we're comparing this movie to one of the most well know epics in history, I don't see how this works. It's almost like I need to forget the epic exists and watch the movie in a vacuum to enjoy it, which is a hard ask.

Nolan trailers are always polarizing. The movie will be great

At least he didn't have an African or mixed-race Scot heroine, unlike Nolan's casting in this film.
An American, who is of English/Scottish and Finnish/Swedish descent which by definition is a mixed-race Scot, will be playing a Greek king.
You clowns crack me up

meh I don't think he's bad, he's just one of the few actors that I see as themselves in movies instead of the character they're playing.

not to beat a dead horse, but the "Dad" line definitely took me out
I can already tell that Pattinson is going to steal all his scenes
the set pieces will be awesome in this, I have no doubt

I don't think she is entirely unattractive, but she's playing a character who is supposedly the most beautiful woman in the world. So beautiful that she started a war. I don't think they did a great job of casting here.

shite, they could’ve made older Theron Helen of Troy
And would’ve been fine.
And would’ve been fine.

Is my boy Hans doing the soundtrack?
