All I saw was the two of them drinking and Stone cutting her off. I didn't pick up anything that would lead me to believe they hooked up, maybe I completely missed something

You would think at a minimum it would be a conversation between Stones and Chandra

You can only cover so much ground in an hour. Between dealing with cat crap, rotten feet, smoking dope in prison and breaking up with up significant others, it's damn hard to squeeze in minor details like potential suspects.

The sad part is that there really is the type of incompetence portrayed in this show...maybe not to the extent here but you would be surprised how sloppy the defense can be. Real proof of this behavior lies in the goodly number of murder convictions that are granted new trials due to "ineffective (incompetent) counsel". Since this is TV, I suspect Stone and Chandra will pull a rabbit out their arse at the last minute.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but during one of the courtroom scenes, I thought we were about to devote time to voir dire, then bam! we've got a jury. I was working as I watched so maybe I missed something, but the trial lead up seemed amusingly disconnected.

They likely cut those scenes to make room for more feet.

I'm astonished how quick this case has gone to trial. A, what seems like a high profile, murder case getting tried before all avenues have been explored in the investigation.

Still an entertaining who-done-it show though.

They discussed jury selection (which given the nature of the show would seem important, but then completely skipped it and went straight to trial) and Chandra recently becoming single. The scene ended with the camera zooming in on stone placing his hand over hers. Probably nothing going on, but who knows with these writers.

Edit- basically I'm wondering if they didn't bother to follow up and show us jury selection, maybe the meaning of that scene was to show us something else (relations between stone and Chandra). Again, probably nothing to it, just wondering out loud.

I think it's just to show how fricked our judicial system has become.

People thinking way too much into it. They show jurors sleeping and looking on their phones during that one scene. Like no matter who you get, it won't be good. And people can't be bothered, just like him saying keep it short and sweet.

The problem with the series was the pilot was SO good. It hooked you in. So you got to episode 2 and it's a let down. But hey man how bout that pilot amirite?! Then episode 3... Maybe it'll pick back up? And so on and so on until we now only have 2 episodes left and most people are just ready for it to be over if I had to guess. Already watched 6 episodes. What's two more?

Then don't watch it, I usually stop tuning into things I don't like.

For me, it has kept me interested enough to stick it out. More so just to see the outcome.

I generally watch things for entertainment, not to dissect every little detail and criticize it. Where is the fun in that?

A lot of these in game threads for any show or movie has way too much of that. Well this would never happen type bullshite.

If I wanted to experience reality, I would get off the couch and stop watching TV.

I'm curious why Freddy keeps helping Naz with his trial stuff if he wants to keep him there

The pilot was amazing. I'm still interested, but the show has depressed way below pilot levels.

Can't. I'm afraid I'll not watch and, finally, there'll be that "Oh shite! Did you see that?" moment. It's in there wanting to come out...in spite of the haphazard writing.

It's about trust and family. If Naz is going to be there for a while Freddy is molding him to be part of his crew someone that there's a trust between. Naz is different than most inmates because he's intelligent and isn't accustomed to prison life. Freddy is showing him the ropes so Naz can help him in the long run in or out of prison.

I'm pretty positive Ray the CPA is involved in the murder. Him and the stepdad are the only one's that would know about the will if Andera died. Plus him showing up the funeral was odd especially for a CPA.

And what's crazy is the emotional connection with Nasir after episode 1 was huge.

Hrm, maybe that's the point of the show after all..... Damnit etm512 don't make me start appreciating the social commentary of this show.

My guess is that the CPA knows more than he's letting on..that "over my dead body" line was Too rehearsed..who remembers stuff like that supposedly said in the heat of the moment.

Regarding the writing, it feels like the prison stuff is written as a multisesson series and the investigation is a single episode of law and order..maybe half an episode. Such a great premier that's fallen flat. We haven't even gotten to know the victim at all. So many failures..trying to enjoy it but frustrated they aren't progressing key parts of the story.

Wow. The prosecutor is awful. On so many different levels. Know its been talked about a lot, but it really hit hard this episode.

They're use to getting plead deals and didn't really want this go to trial. They are doing the minimum amount of work to get a conviction. That's why you think it's been awful.

The show had huge potential but I have to agree some of writing has been lazy and a few of the actors are shitty. The DA and black female cop were terrible in the courtroom scene.
Either way it is still entertaining so I will finish it.

And maybe that could be acceptable, but every episode they are showing how this is a media circus as well. Nancy Grace is covering it often, so if this had become a national news story the trial becomes a lot more important.

We are supposed to believe that in a murder case that has made national news the defense is made up of these two idiots who haven't even finalized their defense before the trial and possibly the worst trial attorney in America in the DA?
