They kind found Sauron out before maybe the end of season 2. There is no way the rings are forged before season 1 is over and if they know he’s Sauron he’s not sneaking up and forging rings with them.

You're right that Celebrimbor probably won't know until the end of Season 2. But Galadriel may know earlier. Indeed, I think it likely. I think she will know early in Season 2.

I think it makes sense that we'll see the One Ring forged in Season 3.

Idk I dont Love Halbrand being Sauron.

Who is going to introduce him to the Elves?

Galadriel. And the whole thing is she warns everyone about Annatur and they don’t believe her. Could you imagine being introduced to a sketchy stranger and then the person who introduced you told you not to trust them and just ignoring that?

I think It’s really a confidence things for Daniels. He isn’t comfortable in the pocket so he feels like he may not make as good a throw as he would like so just tucks it and runs

I have fallen asleep every night trying to finish this episode and I finally finished it last night.

In the preview for next week, is that the stranger it briefly shows waking up? Because he straight up looks like a healthy Gandalf look to him. Not a grungy look the stranger has. Almost like it was a different character. Unless I'm just seeing things.

I think I'm in the minority but i actually like Galadriel. I think she's a good actress, kind of hot, and the bitchy attitude doesn't bother me because everyone that is defying her is technically lower than her. Nothing wrong with keeping it real with people that are just being dumb.

I haven't made a guess on who I think Sauron is yet but Halbrand is the one that is the closest to getting into good graces with the elves. I just don't know what support he would have/how Adar and the orcs would have followed him.

I think that the show runners should give it a try and let the viewer decide.

So, for everyone complaining about Galadriel's characterization right now ... be patient. She will be a very different elf next season.

Interesting that if they actually do this, they will essentially be admitting that wise,
feminine, married Galadriel is a progression in character and a superior version of aggressive, strong, independent Galadriel AND that wise, feminine, married Galadriel actually helps bring down Sauron when strong, independent Galadriel just allows Sauron to become powerful.

Didn't like ET or some publication have pictures of who Sauron was? This was a little after we saw pictures of the black lady dwarf and people were freaking out. I like her character actually.

I remember people on here calling him Slim Shady haha.

Yeah, no.

What they did was feed into the panicked hysteria (like what nerdrotic apparently is pumping out), and ran with a picture of someone, who looked evil, and did in fact look like Eminem... and said this is Sauron

Turns out that is a woman, and not even credited (I did find some screenshot of her twitter, I forget her name).
She has like a 2 second cameo without words, in ep 1, when they flash back about something... I think basically a priestess of Morgoth.

Absolutely not Sauron, he had his own cameo

Having read the Silmarillion, knowing the material, and also knowing they have 5 seasons... I think I know where they are going, and I think it can work (and work great).

I don't want to say more, for fear of spoiling viewers that don't know the backstory.

We need a different thread for that, a book reader thread. I think of all people, OML could also deduce quickly what and where they are going, and how it will play out over the seasons- what you SHOULD do, what your points of emphasis should be, what the key points are and when, etc. We could debate whether they are doing it well, whether they hit the milestones in a timely manner, etc.

I read the Silmarillion around the time the LOTR movies came out on a suggestion from a friend. I think I still have it somewhere it had a purple jacket on it.

I will say it was tough, and I'm sure being 22 I glazed over plenty while slogging through.

I do know going down rabbit holes on youtube and wiki I feel like I never even opened it.

Go ahead and do a spoiler thread. I love em

I started this series yesterday and enjoyed it. The first episode felt a little too copycat of the movie series, but I found myself getting more into it be the end of the second episode.

I haven’t read the lore of LOTR other than snippets here and there. If anyone likes the series or not, this guy Nerd of the Rings has an excellent channel.
