Except the linked article says most of the criticism was over lighting

Not because Arya Stark being a bad arse seems to emasculate so many on this board

Ayra tricked the frigging Night King....do you think she found tricking the haters on this board very hard?

Stop it, just stop it.

You beta cucks that keep pushing that narrative are just as bad as those of us who see it as yet another case of Hollywood dreaming shite up about women being able to defeat men in mortal hand to hand combat.

It’s make believe, it’s fantasy.

Still, and pay close attention here .... having Arya take the NK out, as they did, after seven years of buildup, as they did, was anticlimactic. It lacked imagination. It lacked creativity.

It’s become a reoccurring theme in modern Hollywood .... brave little desperate girl defeats monsterous evil white male, against all odds, and saves the day right when all seems lost.

Yah

They could have done far better. The could have made it epic.

Has anybody theorized that just like the Children of the Forrest created the night king while fighting the first men (later regretting it) that somehow our current remaining cast of characters might accidentally create something similar to help them in their battle, but later regret it?

e.g. Qyburn created the Mountain fire wight or whatever he is now, but what if he got the ability to raise the dead into fire wights? and then brought them all to Dorne and now it's 'summer is coming'?

That is just a silly example, but I keep thinking that at the end there is going to have to be something remaining that is on the 'evil' spectrum like the White Walkers/Night King. I feel like balance in the world has been a pretty consistent theme and to just end with, hey all the baddies are gone would be pretty disappointing.

Yes by critics. Audience score is entirely separate.

Ahhh, but the 75% is the critics score. So are they to be trusted, or not?

Yet I think when people thought Jon Snow was going to duel the Night King and defeat him lacked any creativity and it's something we've seen over and over and doesnt really make sense to the story or our characters.

The Bran as bait scenario could have happened anywhere, and did not require allies or even an army.

It just needed Bran and Arya.

Job fighting the night king would be predictable, but it’s the scenario they set up. It’s the logical conclusion to the narrative they created.

By defying those expectations, you cheat the viewer.

You’re telling them, ignore the foreshadowing.

When you do that. The viewer stops trusting you.

People bitch about fan service in the last few years of writing but still want Jon to get the kill.

We have predictions of Clegane bowl, Jon killing mad Dany, Tyrion and Jaime killing Cersei. Tormund and Brienne. Jaime and Brienne.

Somebody is going to be mad if those happen and somebody is going to be mad if they don’t.

The writers are effed either way.

The episode received a fresh but disappointing rating of 75% after registering 93 reviews, making it the second worst rated episode in the entire series. While for any other film or TV?show, 75% rating would be called healthy and hopeful, the same doesn’t stand true for Game of Thrones, 22 episodes of which have earned 100% ratings so far.

So, still a good episode. Got it.

Exactly. And that's what I'm kind of pointing to when I say the show has become too big for people.

If you’re going to have people survive, you have to make their survival plausible.

Williams told Entertainment Weekly about discovering she would be the one to end The Night King. “But I immediately thought that everybody would hate it; that Arya doesn’t deserve it. The hardest thing is in any series is when you build up a villain that’s so impossible to defeat and then you defeat them. It has to be intelligently done because otherwise people are like, ‘Well, [the villain] couldn’t have been that bad when some 100-pound girl comes in and stabs him.’ You gotta make it cool. And then I told my boyfriend and he was like, ‘Mmm, should be Jon though really, shouldn’t it?’”

It’s not a great ending. Seven seasons of buildup, comes down to one fight, in one episode.

But it’s what they chose to do. It’s how they decided to write it.

And in this scenario, yes, it’s better to have Jon fight the night king.

Arya killing the Night King was the LEAST of the things "wrong" with the episode. I didn't mind that at all.

I think so many people are fixated on that they are ignoring the episode's more glaring issues.

Show is pretty much a fan theory at this point as well.

Theories aren’t the reason a majority of us are upset anyway, that’s just stupid.
