That’s great casting. John Oliver as a pompous ignorant news giver is perfect as well.

Movie's gonna suck without Irons. He was the single best thing about the original. By like a country mile.

So the fat pig is going to sound like a high school dropout who is stoned and has a very irritating stoned chuckle? I wish they'd go with lesser unknowns when it comes to voice acting...during his scenes it's going to feel like I'm watching pineapple express

All they had to do was keep Jermey Irons voice for scar and keep the “be prepared” song in movie and it woulda been goat

Now will be mediocre.

Scar isn’t that distinguishable

It’s insane Jeremy Irons isn’t voicing Scar.

Was just coming to comment. Scar's voice doesn't sound right at all.

I’m hopeful that this will be the best live action remake to date. Looks good

Looks like it could be pretty good but I have no idea how this can actually be called a live action remake since all the animals are CG. Are the landscapes even real or are those all CG too?

Also, while some take issue with Jeremy Irons not playing Scar I have no problems with it. I've seen Lion King on Broadway twice now and both of those actors were really good so I see no reason why anyone should be worried about the performance of an excellent actor like Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Honestly what's weird to me is they went back to James Earl Jones. Not sure why they would have him back if they aren't bringing anyone else back and are trying to do an updated version. If anything it's going to be distracting to hear him but not any of the other voices from the original.

That’s fair. Maybe I should’ve just said non-animated remake, but I don’t know if there is a standard term for that.

I wasn't really trying to call you out. It's been talked about as a live action remake for a long time now. I just don't understand why. The Jungle Book could get away with it b/c it had a real person in it. This? Ehh... not so much.

It should be. I bet teaching those animals to talk was a BITCH.

Like Aladdin, I seriously doubt this will capture the magic that the originals had, but I doubt it.

There are no original ideas anymore, just remakes and sequels.

Holy crap. I was not excited about this at all, I was more angry than anything. I didnt want my favorite animated movie of all time remade, but that looks amazing.

Hollywood was using books, tales, and history as their story/plot sources at their inception. That hasn’t changed.
